As the title says, has anyone attempted to make this costume?
I am considering making a male Twi'lek costume (not Bib), and any info could be helpful. :angel
So far I have only a handful of reference images (Fact File #82 has some excellent front and side shots) and a few ideas.
The top/back of Bib Fortunas head is like a conehead, but slanted backwards. The lekku drop right down from the back from this cone - they do not curve outwards very much before they drop down.
Although the lekku are simpler than on the females, the center of gravity is behind the neck, pulling the entire headgear backwards. I think there would have to be a band over the forehead, and an additional band under the chin just to be sure. These support bands would have to be covered by the latex prosthetics for the chin and forehead. The cone where the lekku are attached would have to be made in a strong, but light material -- maybe fiberglass-reinforced vac-formed styrene would be a good choice.
Bib Fortuna's lekku are longer and thicker than on any female. I guess they could be carved from foam in the shape that they would lay over the shoulders.
However, I would like mine to be very flexible and movable, so the skin would have to be quite thin and stretchy with the wrinkles being there to increase the skin's flexibility and not just for show.
Vinyl would be inadequate, because it is too rigid. I think genuine swine leather, distressed to get the right type of wrinkles could do the trick.
I am thinking about molding thin latex skin in small pieces and gluing them together. If the skin is thin enough, then I think the same mold could be reused for both thinner and thicker sections on each lekku.
