So, I have a blue leather/leather like material jacket, that I'm going to be turning into a "vault" jacket. An alternate take on a full vault suit.
I myself, am not a sewing expert. So I'm looking for input on whats involved with getting the best results.
General layout of of the color pattern will be like a regular vault suit upper. Using a more traditional solid yellow, rather than reflective gold.

Am I best off trying to find thin leather like material in yellow, and take it to an alterations place, and ask them to add the striping and the number I want on the back? Would they be sewing the material over the jacket, or trying to cut parts away and replacing it with the new material?
Is it better to use a certain type of paint that I'm just not aware of, for adding this sort of detail to a jacket? How does it wear/how would I protect it?
