Best material for a Mummy Costume?

Aw, you skimped out on the FX saber! :)

Just kidding man. Killer costumes, would have died to worn one of those when I was a kid...

Anyways, no suggestions, cool stuff though.

i gotta agree with the muslin idea...that is what i always use when doing up mummies for halloween...static or costume...

Whatever fabric you choose to use just wrap and tacstitch it to a longsleeve shirt and stretchy pants. Like sweat shirt and pants. And to give it some depth buy either a dark green, brown or dark gray colored sweats and then wrap your tan weathered musiln fabric over the shirt and pants. And for the mask just get one of those cheapy monster masks that fits his head and wrap it up to match the shirt and pants. Its easy for him to put on and off because its like pjs with a mask:thumbsup
Because the wraps are attached to the shirt and pants. You could leave some of the ends hanging. And maybe get some of those small plastic toy beetles and stickem on here and there and some of that cotton cobweby stuff and stretch it over him for that unkept look. Sorry i just really get into the Halloween costuming thing for my daughters.
The mummy idea i devised this for a friend last year.
Can't wait to see pics of his costume!

As MaulWalker suggested muslin cut on the bias will be perfect because while it will prevent massive unravelling you can get some nice frayed edges. it will also be very elastic.
The other option for the controlled tattered look would be to tear the strips across the fabric and take time to remove all the strands that will come away. It won't have the same elastic qualities as the bias though.

Fantastic ideas everyone, thanks!

I already bought a set of sweats to use underneath. It gets rather cold in NH on Oct 31st. :)

So, it looks like I will use Muslin.

The idea to use a mask and then wrap that is a great idea. I hadn't thought of that. I will look for a good zombie/mummy/etc style and wrap over it.

I will post pics as I go along.

muslin would work and great ideas to detail the costume!

Can´t wait to see progress pics Tony.
Me and my wife loved the costumes you did already :)
