Beginner's Grail Diary (Printable Pages + Discussion)

for what it's worth I've been able to ID the purple stamp used. It is a 1929 Vittorio Emanuele III Imperial series 50 cent.

I remember there is another stamping on the pinkerton letter, some waves, if some other ink stamps have to be done, please add them on comment, so I can design them and add to that project.
I am looking for information about the pinkerton letter, and enveloppe, are there archive pictures of it?
I didn't find any similar design in real pinkerton history, but I found a very large original file, so maybe I can use that design instead?!

Thanks a lot.
I made that design using digital file and real picture, I had to make a lot by hand, the file is about 5500 pixel wide
Now time for me to find someone to print with high level laser printer, on old paper.

Does anymone know, if I create a pdf file, with resized picture, if the pixel size and datas will be kept, for high resolution printing?
In that case, I will start working on other files, with very high resolution pictures, and create pdf files.I also wanted to know the paper format, maybe some are speciflc and not A4 size?!

About the enveloppe I see you have a different design with handwritten address.
I also found that version, probably in this thread.
is there any consensus about that?
I prefer to ask before starting working on the black ink stamping 3D model...

In my experience high resolution images in pdf will keep their resolution for printing. The Henry Jones Sr address.....I've seen it before and read something to the effect that it was patched together from various sources. It's not actually seen in the bits of the grail diary seen onscreen but was added in to make it more real (a bit like what is going on here).

I've attached two other stamps. One for the Graff Zeppelin if you are doing a ticket and the telegraph office stamp used on the Eastern telegraph form and envelope.

One thing to keep in mind is while we have a lot better understanding of the grail diary contents these days - and the ones which turn up at auction help a lot - one thing that rarely turns up with any of these auction sales are the inserts which seem to fly away over the years.

I've also included a pdf of the LARY tickets. You need 2 of these in blue and one in gold which is used and ripped. These tickets can be printed on paper and not card stock. Other prop makers have confirmed the original tickets are paper and when you find the genuine vintage tickets as well they are apparently quite flimsy and not thick card stock like many other types of tickets.

Thanks a lot, that's very interesting pieces, I can work on such items, I want to find a way to number them separately, print the paper on e one side, and stamp numbers, or any hand stamped parts, on other side.
I can draw those ink stamps, I think maybe someone has a source for the telegram enveloppe to henry Jones, so I can also draw ink stamps.

Thanks for the LARY tickets, do you know who made them, the quality is very good, I don't have the tools to modify such PDF without damaging it, It would be interesting to remove machine typed number on them, without loosing the quality.
I used online PDF editor but it's degrading the quality, also changed the signature for a black rectangle.

About those august september, are there any picture of real ones?
I wish to see how it was printed, to see if I have to modify the drawings on top right?

Those are the closest you will get. Someone found the original source of them years ago and these are the files that have since been used in grail diaries.

There’s pictures of the real monthly sheets out there. They are pages tore from The Milwaukee Road Everyman’s Almanac 1945

Maybe I’m wrong, but I remember someone here in the forum who had an original Almanac with the september, august and october sheets, and show both sides of the inserts, instead the blank back used in the movie prop. I think was TomVDJ

If any original picture is available I want to focus especially on this area, on each page, I will change it a bit to make it cleaner, but I was thinking also about how it was printed, to see if there are defects in ink or lettering.

Yep, I have the oroginal almanac. But the correct pages are out there. The ones posted a few messages ago are very outdated. I can post some more info later today...

In attachment the Astrology sheets that are "out there". Made and shared by Marcin Szyniszewski (on the COW forum). They are pretty accurate to the original pages in the Almanac, although the sheets are a combination of different parts (so the right column does not match the left column compared to the Almanac, but it's a combination of the left column on the left page, and the right column on the right page of the Almanac. The October sheet is the exception. That one matches 100% the Almanac sheet.

I guess the other two got another left column, because in the Almanac, all pages would have the "Weather Wisdom" part (with different content) otherwhise.

I'll try to take some pictures of the original pages in the Almanac later this week to clarify what I mean...

This is printed so small on the Astrology sheets, that all improvements you do will not be visible, I guess, unless you use a VERY high resolution printer and check the image under a microscope ;-). The original print is also pretty small and on rather "rough" paper. So I would not put time in cleaning these up, because the result when printed will be 99,9% the same...

Thanks a lot for the sharings.
If I understand those are the same as previously shared, right?
That's why I would like to see original prints, and maybe if you can, also take close ups of them, and if possible also reverse side, so I can use the 3 original files, and make them accurate to original almanach prints.
I would also be happy to know the exact size, so I may be able to make a PDF file, with front and back, for printing, if they are small enough, maybe all 3 could go on a A4 paper sheet, and be printed at once.
I have to take a look for a very good printer, I remember when I drawn the harry potter wand box labels, the definition was actually much higher than printing ability...that was because the original design was very close to paper stamps, with very neat engravings, and lots of details.

About the zeppelin stamp, and also blue telegraph stamp, does anyone know the exact size, I will work on 3D file for the telegraph stamp, I can put it as other side of the venezia stamp, the most economic would be to make double sided thin platic pieces, without handle, and would require the use to make his own handle, and use paste not to damage each side.
work in progress, still lettering to do.

This is all I have on the sizes. The eastern telegraph stamp goes on the form in the right hand side up the top and on the envelope and the zeppelin ticket on the back of the form.

I have a Santa Fe Everyman’s Almanac from the 1930’s and yeah, the paper is like vintage comic book paper. Definitely not the highest quality of fine print jobs.

Here are some pictures of the original Almanac. One page is 20 cm in height and 12,3 cm in width (so this is for the complete page. Keep in mind that the astrology sheets in the Diary are cut out).
