Beginner Budget Batsuit Build

ok so yesterday, i attended the con,but I feel it's my duty to at least show you guys how i finished the costume first.

So those damn boots needed to be painted black, and this is how they turned out

out of all the stress that this costume brought on, this was the biggest relief. later on i noticed we missed a few spots but it wasn't super noticeable.

now the cape, we were in a rush putting this together so we don't really have great pics of how we did this. but after researching for a few days and not having a sewing machine, and me being pretty deadset on having a v shaped cape but also it being long while it droops, we were pretty lost and not really wanting to risk cutting up the fabric to make panels, as none of us really knew what we were doing. I enlisted some help from Thomas and Martha "don't say that name" Wayne, from out of the grave. They created a newspaper cape that was fitted to the shape of my fabric but gluing sheets of newspaper together and cutting to the dimensions that we found online. i found the paper cape to be too small, so we drew extended lines with a white pencil and cut out the cape.

and lastly, i needed gloves for the costume, that meant a trip to wal mart. I bought some bike gloves and spray painted them black

hey guys sorry this has taken so long, first week of classes has me busy already. So with a little bit of last minute rushing and stress we did end up completing the costumes. Unfortunately it was very hot the day of the con. Now i have read and heard so many things about how hot and uncomfortable it is in a cowl, not just at a con but just for 5 minutes. I thought "surely i'll be fine"....let me tell you, nothing in the world could have prepared me for that. while we were in line to get in, i had full on puddles of sweat in the nose and around my mouth and...well everywhere. went i bent my head forward it would waterfall out of the mask. i had some occasional drip marks on the costume through out the day. Overall though it was an incredible experience. I expected a huge sea of batmans but for the entire day i only saw 3 aside from myself. I was pretty shocked to actually have people come up to us on 4 different occasions to ask for photos or to pose with us, especially when our costumes were amateur compared to others there. But it's a great feeling. we didn't take that many photos of us at the convention as out costumes made it damn near impossible. (damn touch screens) at one point batgirl asked a random stranger "hey can you punch in my phone password for me?".

but here is what you're all here for...enjoy

can't do a con without a few bat selfies

seriously was an honor to meet the man who literally made my childhood. Because of him I went to kindergarden dressed as batman even when it wasn't halloween. I was so star struck i think i went deaf for 8 seconds. (or maybe it was the cowl?). super nice as always.

Overall it was a total thrill ride cosplaying for the first time in my life. As my dad would say "after 26 years, my son is still dressing up as batman". thanks to everyone who followed the build this whole summer. I hope I inspired at least one person who was shy or nervous about starting up and didn't wanna spend too much. If anyone wants more detail as to how we did anything, feel free to pm
