Beetlejuice rubber grass?

Any idea what was used for the grass? Did they mold it or was it a rubber mat off the shelf? Looks like it was painted green and it was originally black.

Acoustic wall foam? The egg carton points are pretty long, but might be something out there.

Looks like foam to me. In fact, I've always thought that they used foam sound dampening tiles painted green for the "grass".

After some research, it appears it is probably this kind of foam. Sizing looks right.

That kind of foam but not that exact one. When you look at the screengrab you'll notice that the peaks are skinnier and longer/taller. Also of note, the valleys/dips don't have, for lack of a better term, walls the points just go all the way down to the bottom of the dips.
