Beating a dead horse....

OK, so I'm ready to start painting my CC X-wing. And I know everyone has said paint it all black and paint white over it. Does that got for the engines as well? I have plastikote black primer and I painted an engine when this thought popped into my head. And what white am I supposed to use exactly?

Paul, hit it with matt black auto paint, then i used gloss white auto paint over this.
Itll looklike crap, but then take FINE wire wool to all parts itll take off the gloss, and leave it looking patchy and almost metalised?
I used black al over, but i think Bob is experimenting with red oxides etc in the wing areas.
The wire wool wears off raised areas to the undercoat, so be careful to get that effect where you need it!
I used an acrylic brand from Halfords here in the UK. Hope that helps a little buddy!
