Hi. Ive been working on this inbetween the Falcon for a while now. Ive nearly completed the detailing of the Engine box sides & will start work on the Lid & bottom shortly. I have nearly all the pieces other than a couple so it just comes down to availabillity of time really. Its being built primarilly of acrylic & has a stainless steal armature. Once this section is complete I will have the reamaining superstructure assembled before continuing. You can see the whole build diary at my site

Oooohhhh, that's looking awesome dude. I'd love to see one of these in person one day. Yours will probably be the closest to me yet lol!.
Are you mostly going original kit parts or a mix of castings & original parts?. Either way, this is a stunning build.

Re: Battlestar Australia

Thanks guys. I originally was going to use as many castings as possible but fell into the collecting actual kits web. The only castings on this so far are the Roco 215's on the bottom slopes & the B52 parts that sit inside the open Roco 215's on the upper slopes. Everything else is a kit part. Luckilly I had some really lucky scores on the Roco's & some have been re-released by HERPA. the only Roco not re-released is the Z211 & they aren't going to reproduce that item unfortunately. I still need 6. I can cast the 4 Ive got but...will probably just keep searching until they come up. Its a very expensive build unfortunately. The armature is made of Stainless Steel. Heres a few more pics & some pics of the first castings I did before I went nuts :wacko I have a good buddy (Wombat) building one aswell so its sort of a group build. We're bouncing off each other between the two builds & theres already been plenty of reworking:cry. We've also built a pretty good little Battlestar builders group at the site which has helped a huge amount with alot of sharing. Thanks for the feedback. Its fun inbetween the stress.:eek

Re: Battlestar Australia

Excellent work.

Did you know there is a group ( Part of the CDF(Colonial Defence Force)) and our chapter is BSR04 Battlestar Australis?

Re: Battlestar Australia

It's really come a long way in a short time, Jase. Maybe doesn't seem like it to you but it has. Looks fantastic.

Re: Battlestar Australia

Thanks fellas. No I didn't know about that group. If I were to name my own Battlestar it would be called 'AUSTRLIS'. Your in Cairns. Im on the Gold Coast. Shame the emblem has a picture of the Opera House..... It would look better if it was plain. Just my opinion.
Doug mate, thanks. Your work is something to aspire to believe me. I so appreciate your help, advice & contribution.
Got a couple of parts needed to finish the sides up cast tonight. Have had some problems with resin & weather unfortunately but things seem to be operational again. These are B52 parts used in the top Roco tank hulls. Just some Fujimi F15 drop tanks & Hasegawa 155mm U bolts for the sides & I can start on the Lid & Bottom :thumbsup
Thanks for the feedback & havin a look.

Re: Battlestar Australia

I have to stop looking at these Galactica builds. It' s just so tempting to build one. :$

Great job so far.

Re: Battlestar Australia

Hey thanks guys. If I could build half as well as you guys I'll be happy. Michael are you back on the A? CJ I'll be sending some funds soon for that awsome Colonial Movers kit buddy. Keep up the good work fellas. it inspires silly buggers like myself to have a go :lol

Thanks everyone. I finally got the last of the Starboard side upper slope Roco's in with those castings I did. Have just made a mould for the last ones needed on the sides. The Z211's. Can't waite to get them on. Hopefully by this afternoon I will get to do a cast. Ive also given it a good coat of primer to highlight any rough spots that need attention. In doing so Ive noticed the Roco's on the lower shelf sit a little off the edge which is bothering me. I think Im gonna have to snap em off & get them on the edge :unsure It will just bother me too much if I dont....

No buddy I am doing the same thing Bryancd is doing if you look at our avatars training for Triathlon!:lol

But I am still keeping an eye open! LOL

Thanks for the feedback. Good luck with that Triathalon Michael & Brian. Thanks Raiders & Drewid. I will use LED's to light the Fibre Optics. I will be also using LED bulbs to light the engines as they are much cooler than the old style. Update tonight. my first cast from the 211 tank hulls mould worked quite well. A little modification & will be spot on. I'll post the pictures tonight.

Small update. The mould for the 211's worked great. Have got the firs portside lot up. Is filling in now & starting to look tuff. Now starting to cut/shape the SaturnV's for the lower engine area. Their tricky to get right.

Engine ports nearly in. Had to rip them apart to get the fitted :unsure Wasn't fun. Am not overly happy with them. Just got to put back some of the kit parts. Don't mind the glue :eek its all on the inside. Wanted to make sure these buggers didn't move May rebuild them at a later date. Have scribed the top lid & will start working on that area soon.

Have got the last of the Roco tank hulls on the side walls 7 the Fujimi drop tanks. Has filled it in nicely. One bit that goes between the drop tanks, some chips & the sides are done. can now work on the bottom & will have the body section cut next week.
