I've scoured high and low and this is un-buyable. I want it lol. I was told this is where i could find the people to get this kind of thing done. lol now, any idea on the best approach? Currently after looking over some of the projects on the forum not having a 3d printer is a huge disadvantage, How would you guys tackle this?

I myself am in love with the Battlefield franchise (little bit "ehh" with BF4), and this seems awesome. But have you seen any where online where you can buy an actual version of this? Or maybe an airsoft version (probably made from Japan)? If you don't want to do that, the other question is do you want the prop to actually be able to click/detonate, or just a solid object?

personally if i could have my way. it would be functional. rubber and actual switches one of those antennas would probably be cheap anyways. any recommendations on website to look for it on? i have gone overseas looking for it just yet. moistly stuck with google and ebay and found absolutely nothing. i just think this would be an awesome edition to my desk space. i feel so damn satisdfied every time i use it in game and get all those c4 kills. having the real thing in my hand would be amazing.

it's an M57 Clacker for the M18A1 Claymore. Type "M57 clacker" into Google and you will get results, like this one:

MOD EDIT: Please do not post Ebay links, thanks.

Thanks so much for that link and the name of the device, my only question now is looking around ebay and such...a bunch of these are from vietnam and such. i dont want to go destroying and modifying something like that. Any known replica sites you would recommend to find this?

The ones from Vietnam are probably surplus from the vietnam war. The clacker itself is only a power generating device to set off the blasting cap. There should be plenty inside the USA (cant see your location on mobile). Check with local army/navy surplus stores or online stores. If you are overseas... no clue...

Clarification: the m57 does not have an ability by itself to cause anything more than a small electrical charge. The detonation of a claymore requires the m57, a wire and blasting cap(detonator), and the claymore itself, which is nothing more than shaped C4, ball bearings and a platic cover.

I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I understand they are surplus from the vietnam war, and in no way dangerous. i was just curious if modifying a original one is morally correct. it seems as if i could buy one of these on ebay, figure out what antenna best matches the one in the game and find a way to attach it where the cable plug is. There is a guy on ebay who sells these things out of Mississippi, but for $100 bucks. Not sure if thats a fair price, personally im thinking more like 40 dollars haha and i live in new york btw.

well, morally, it's just a piece of hardware to me... that being said, take a trip up by Ft. Drum or Ft. Dix and see what you can turn up.

Moderator, sorry about the ebay links, keep forgetting that rule.

Whoah. I just happen to have a detailed 3d model of a Clacker. Even more, I was working on making it printable. (Someone asked if they could print it out to hold the guts of an e-cig. If you can imagine that!)

It could take me a bit to make it properly "clackable," though. You can still find the original ones at various surplus outlets at least.

Oh. I made the model originally to go with my Claymore model. Which I DID go ahead and make printable in 1/8 and it is free in my Shapeways store.

yeah at this point im thinking modifying the real thing would just give it a more authentic feel and be alot more satisfying. plus if it was 3d printed the rubber peices would be a hassle to find and installing the buttons and such

Probably!

The main advantage to a custom printed shell is giving space for unique electronics inside. There's enough space there for various RF remote solutions (even though I do tend to reach myself for the somewhat expensive XBee for those applications).

I suspect the boot is sourceable or even printable. Making the plug cap look right would be tougher. Based on other prints I've done, I'd expect the print to run $40 to $60 for the shell if done in a reasonable thickness. But there would be a standard button buried inside it; a bit of a "click," but not that rather manly "snap" of the real thing (it is a bit of effort to close those things in life and you worry about your fingers when you do!)

I'm still willing to clean up the shell for printing if anyone is interested, but there's higher priority work I could be doing...

Know of any surplus outlets that would sell this? and like giant online ones that always have what ya need? lol i cant find it anywhere but ebay.

I checked my links to (the 2 I have ever saved) surplus stores and didn't see any. IF you are really looking for one, I can put a WTB on another forum for you, much more likely to get a hit.

M57 firing device with a ICOM radio antenna modeled inplace of the wire terminals. Should be an easy make, with a little Epoxy. Would never work in that configuration but would give you the look for a costume.
