Batman TDK Cowl for teenage son?

Where can I get one of these that looks like the nice ones you can get for adults? I bought one of those, because I thought it wouldn't be so large that I could add stuffing up top and behind to make his face fit better, but it's HUGE on him. It's made out of urethane so I don't think there is anyway for me to modify it without adding loads of lame factor to it. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm willing to give this to my brother or something and buy another one if I can find one that looks screen accurate, but smaller for my 13 year old son. Is that impossible to find? Do I have to make a mold of his head and do it myself? I know I won't be able to make one as nice, so I'd much rather buy one. I want his Dark Knight costume to be spot on.

Please let me know if you have any ideas for me, or know of someone who makes these.

Thanks-
Julie

Hi Julie,

Not sure from where you purchased the original, but if it was from the original maker then he/she might have the 3D file and could be asked to scale down the fit for a smaller head. Of course, this option only works if the original was made via 3D software.

If the original maker sculpted their master in a physical medium, then the above option is out the window. You can, however, see if you can find someone else who has a 3D screen-accurate TDK cowl and see if they will scale it down for a smaller head. Or you can commission a 3D designer to sculpt it for you. The problem with both of the above options is that it still leaves you with a number of steps before getting to the wearable urethane.

The final option is you commission the full job yourself. Find someone who will create the model themselves, and then create the urethane cast for your son to wear. This method, due to all the time involved, would probably be the most expensive, but to get an actual screen-accurate urethane cast for a smaller head might be worth it to you. Without knowing your budget, I am just trying to give you the most options possible.

If you do not know who the original maker is, your best bet right now is to probably go to the "Want To Buy" forum here and post a topic detailing exactly what you want. Hopefully, a member here will be able to help you in whatever way you need!
