Been working on this on and off for a looong time. I'm very happy with how it's progressing. Below are some torso sculpt progress pics and 'finally' rubber cast pics of the finished chest piece.
Between you and me, I almost forgot how it feels to have worked this long on something and finally see the completed piece. Dare I say I couldnt be happier?

Chavant NSP Soft Green Clay..

This is still the sculpture but sprayed with Krylon flat black and the emblem sprayed over and over again with high gloss black and polished. All this before the mold was made.

And the first chest casting from the mold...yay!!!!

It's NOT mounted. You'll also see some fingerprints because I demolded it...trimmed it a bit, not even all of it..LOL and wanted to see how it all looked.
Also, the belt is the Toys R Us kids belt. It's small so it's going to look weird because it just doesnt cover as much of that area as it needs to but eh, it's all I have for now.

It fits like a glove!! It forms to the body and flex's beautifully. The whole thing has a sandy mat finish to it while the bat logo is glass smooth. I guess I should have polished it before taking the pics but eh...sue me for being excited..LOL!

The cowl and chest are cast from 2 different rubbers so they do look different in color. The cowl and gauntlets are just quick reject casts I used throughout the sculpting of the torso for proportions and positioning of different details.

I cant wait to attach this to an undersuit, punch the collar clip holes and mount the whole thing up with cape away I go.

Is it wrong to be happy? I hope not ...My 3rd Begins Chest sculpt...a few years later and finally I'm as happy as I was the first time I made a rubber batsuit back in 89.

Now I gotta finish up the legs.....
Enjoy!

Awesome work.

Great idea using the spray paint as a way to get the surface completely smooth.

NICE!!!

THAT is amazing!!

Is that why you went over it with spray paint; to get it smooth? Everything looks so crisp, I really like it. Must... go... practice.

That's my favorite Batman suit hands down. Excellent work David. The belt doesn't look bad either.

If you're gonna do a Batsuit. Then that's how it should look. Absolutely fantastic work. You should be bloody happy with how that turned out......Now about the beard!!

Cheers

Thanks folks for the kind words!!!

Now...what's with the beard bashing?? C'mon, ol'e Batman can have a wee bit of facial hair....cant he?

Sure...I know...it's gotta go....it does every halloween anyhow..
