Avatar Neytiri / Jake choker made by my wife

So we saw Avatar the other day and we really loved it. Yesterday my wife went shopping for some beads and started her very first prop project (if you can call it a prop).

She wanted to make the choker with green jade/stone.

After a couple hours she completed the choker.

The ratio seemed a bit off but I guess that's because she weren't 10' tall.
You can't really wear a choker without people turning heads, so she made it adjustable, it can turn into a necklace easily.

Here's a detailed shot of the necklace.

I'm glad she shares my love for the props.

UPDATE:

She also tried the Jake Sully's Na'vi choker, she didn't find the exact bead so she used one that's closest. Also she didn't copied exactly as the prop but make a few tweaks to it.

I've upload the pictures as attachments. Next Halloween we can go blue! But there's big chance we'll be mistaken as Smurfs.:$

Very cool. And different than what we usually see here.
Aaaand something she made herself which makes it better and hopefully inspires others to take on their own project.

Thank you for the kind words, it really meant a lot to her. :$

It's about $5 for the beads, but she bought a couple different beads to try plus a book for reference.

Much better looking than the licensed version coming out (not a surprise). The licensed one uses transparent amber beads. There's not one moment in the film where her beads look transparent...and i should know. I'm oddly drawn to chockers and found myself staring at it...a lot.

Kudos to your wife for an awesome prop build!

As Dirty Harry would say.. “That's very stylish.”

I see lots of EBAY listings in your future..strike while the Iron is hot. The newness of this movie will wear off quickly.

Major Kudos to the Missus for doing that. its' a great piece, especially for a first-timer! Exquisite match on the stones. May I inquire as to where she got them and leather? And that is a beautiful necklace. Although I would personally wear it as a choker, myself. Is she considering doing Tsu'tey and Jake's chokers as well?

Re: Avatar Neytiri choker made by my wife

to propologist, ebay isn't a bad idea except it needs too much time to be cost effective. I'll list the extra one still, she'll be thrilled if it sells.

to peanutsfan1995,
She went to a local market selling all kinds of handcraft stuff, I'd say any handcraft hobby shop will carry something similar. If she had the time, maybe I can provide her some publicity photo so she can shop for the right beads.

My wife is thinking about the same, since we saw the movie. She will do the beads/pearls by here own out of glas! So whenever she finished the one or other i will share some pics here, if she allows :unsure

Again, my congrats to your wife Kevin. Really like it.

very understandable. I hadn't watched the movie yet.

Re: Avatar Neytiri choker made by my wife

MurdocXXL, please do show the pics. There aren't many props that wives can enjoy making.

stephen210, How old is your daughter? It'll be $15 if your daughter wants it.

When my wife made the first one it's slightly too small. She can wear it (with 21" head circumference), I can too but a bit too tight (I had 22" head circumference). So it'll work for a kid or anyone with less than 22" head circumference.
