whos gonna get it?

just saw a copy of the movie and i really enjoyed it. glad they added more, good character moments that really help the movie.

I'll admit it. I will. I didn't buy the original release and I don't want the 3d one.

anyone else notice the extended scene on earth where jake is taking off his pants to get into bed, his legs look real skinny, obviously from being a paraplegic but im sure it was done as a special effect.

he's standing inside the bed, with his real legs comp'ed out...

the legs hes taking out of the pants are probably silicone, they kind of bend in a 'rubbery' way..

May I ask a favor of anyone who's picked up the DVD? (non BluRay obviously)

I'd like a screen cap. from the deleted schoolhouse scene. Jake will be standing under a mobile, I'd like a shot that shows the anat poster on the back wall (it's a friend's sculpture that's the basis for the poster, he worked on the film waaay back) It's a fairly decent length, but Jake moves a bit in front of the image. Just as the shot starts it's fairly clear.

Please PM me if you can help out, and thanks.

Now back to the thread:

Man! There's a reason why some scenes are deleted!

yes some scenes are bad, but some i felt should have been added, such as dr augustine seeing jake leave to talk to quaritch, or the quaritch confronting the wormy guy (rabisi). the scenes cut out involving the school really were important to the story and helped motivate jake IMO

I read somewhere that the FX folks found a real parapalegic whose legs were like that and they comped them in. I'll try to find that somwhere.

I absolutely was awestruck by the film and bought it on Blu-Ray.

I found it so flat and boring that I couldn't make it past 2/3 of the film.

Unless I get to see it in full 3D (and not like a bunch of 2D images posed in a 3D space) I probably wouldn't buy it. I'd rather go back to the theater when the Extended Edition shows in public.

You're out of luck - the extended version has already had its theatrical run.

The Extended Edition shown in the theaters had 8 mins of extra footage added....the DVD/Blu-ray release had another 8 mins of unseen footage added for a total of 16 mins plus several deleted unfinished scenes added to disc 2.

D'oh! I am a sucker! I bought it on Blu Ray already.

So, do I buy it again? Is this going to be like the string of Aliens films I have on tape, laserdisc, DVD, Blu Ray? Each with successively more and more seconds added?
As I recall, I bought Aliens twice on Laserdisc and possibly twice on DVD (I do like that film!)

Or Blade Runner?
Or Dune?

:(

I'm sure they'll release it again, i to have bought many copies of alien and practically all of the most popular movies, including the evil dead movies.
I bought the 3 disc set last night, watched the documentary so far, very good and indepth, i don't think theres a commentary on the 3 versions of the move we get, which is a bit of a downer on the set, but it cost me the same as the first release which i was surprised at, as i thought they'd hike the price of the extended set up.

You can buy the 3D version when you buy a 3D tv.

I was still awed out of my mind while watching the 2D version. Didn't miss the 3D effect at all, though it was a cool little extra to pull you into the movie, but nothing really needed, imo.

The 3D part of it didn't make the film at all. It was a nice addition in theaters, but having to wear the glasses every time to watch the film would just get really annoying after a while and I love the 2D just fine. The Blu-Ray is so sharp and amazing looking the glasses would take away that.

Very rarely do I watch an extended version of a film that has one extended scene that makes me go "Yep. This is my favorite version thanks to that."

It occurs after Jake and Neytiri sit around the bonfire with the other Navi eating their food. Could I love her more? :love

Still haven't seen this. Kinda regret missing it in theaters in 3D. But maybe I'll watch the 3D version when I have a HDTV with 3D. At the moment, my old SD 24" CRT probably won't do this film any favors.
