Assassin's Creed Fabric Question

This may be the wrong place to post, but it will become a build thread once the question is answered!

I'm beginning to start making Ezio's costume from Revelations, but I need to know what kind of fabric to use. Would a thinner or thicker fabric be better to use, and if so, what kind? Highly appreciated, and like I said, this will turn into a build thread. Thanks guys!

I used a medium weight twill for my Altair suit, and it's something that can( in my opinion) be used universally, it has a sturdy look while flowing... Also it is easily manipulated and sewn... It comes in many varieties as well. I have pics up on my Facebook if you wanna see... Hope that helps

Probably a stupid question but have you looked into seeing what was available back then? I agree a twill is the best bet but i was curious as to how accurate it is.

I'm with Wes. Do some research on the materials and techniques used in Italy at the time. That will help it look more realistic. Linen was a generally popular fabric at the time, as was wool (like suit wool, not fire blanket wool).

Twill is the second worst fabric you could use, right after canvas. I've seen both used and they look awful. The drape and texture are completely wrong and they aren't period accurate. For Ezio's Revelations costume in particular, I highly recommend you read through Fevereon's build thread. She put together probably the best Revelations costume anybody ever will. I can't remember what type of fabric she used, but it was a floral woven jacquard of some kind.

I agree that it's best to look into what types of fabric were available or common in that age/location. Altair's costume was 100% linen, Ezio's original costume is thought to be a wool gabardine, the Brotherhood costume was lambskin, and I would think the Revelations costume would be silk, but I'm not sure of that.

I think leather, lambskin, silk (while pricey even then) and wool would be the most common back then as everyone and their brother owned sheep. You can find fake silk which is cheaper. I'm going to check Fevereon's thread out now too.

Yeah, I'm kinda tight on money, being 19 and whatnot.

Yeah sorry for the twill thing lol... I agree it may not be as beautiful as Ezio's revelations outfit, but I dug the way it hung on me, and considered it for a second suit... And thank you, I love my Rick! Best guitar I have played!

Yeah man, not a problem! I worked at a music shop, and we got in a used '82 Rick 12 string, rare candy red. Saw it as soon as you replied. I most likely use twill, because I'm contemplating on doing Ezio from AC2 as well.

Quick update guys, most likely gonna surrender to the Twill for Revelations. Not sure where I'd find Scarlet and Chamlet (used during the 1500's)

actually, the "museum replicas" company uses something similar to twill for there assassins creed Altair outfit. In my opinion, with the right color, twill can look top notch! If anything, it will look time period appropriate too (especially for Ezio's revelations outfit.... that costume is too thick to do in anything apart from like a twill or wool.)

I agree! I think I'm gonna put a slick fabric on the back of the twill, so it'll slide around like in game
