As I pondered my impending Sidkit BR WorldCon build-up...

It occurred to me that a Blade Runner would need ammunition for all that retiring that would be going on. And I didn't think that in 2019, with the Spinners, & the Off-world Colonies (hence interplanetary travel), & Replicants for frak's sake, that the Police (never mind the Blade Runner Units) would be shooting the same old bullets we have now.

I started reloading ammo 20+ years ago, but quit doing it due to lack of time (as my reloading set-up was a simple one). So I got with a buddy of mine (the one who was INSTRUMENTAL in helping make my CtB Thorgrim's Hammer such a [personal] home-run), who has the grand-pappy of all reloading systems (& is also a Blade Runner fan), & we started batting around ideas. After a few months of discussion & some testing here & there, I've come up with a set-up that I'm pretty happy with (& will look excellent in my Blade Runner display (when it's finished :$)):

I tried to use my experience (as an avid shooter) to make this as "realistic" as possible, even down to the technical & legal jargon on the box. The box (created completely from scratch) took me approximately a week to design, & two full days to electronically/physically construct.

Anyway, thanks for looking... :cool

Strangely enough your thoughts about Deckard using the same ammo as we use now inspired me to make my own interpretation of his ammo and the box I made available on my BR page a while back.

You have in my opinion, done a terrific thing here and taken the concept that much further and I know yours will make a fantastic addition to your prop corner.

There is nothing I would change in your setup other than to perhaps transpose red into where you have used blue - for no other reason that I feel red implies danger and even though we currently associate red with tracer rounds, since he's not using current ballistics, I figured what the hell..

Congratulations and I look forward to seeing your build when its done!

Regards

Wow, thanks, I consider ^this^ post high praise, coming from someone with your talent.

Oddly enough, I originally set out to use red on the bullets. I did one, but it just didn't look "right" to me (if that makes any sense). The blue was my second choice & it seemed to work better. *shrugs*

I like the blue. It reminded me of glaser safety slugs. The projectile looks interesting and unusual too. I really dig the design.

As an avid shooter and all around BR fan myself, I will say . . . home run!

i really wanted the sid kit blade runner gun, i had a difficult time tracking it down. so i ended up getting the resin kit. this project is why i want the sid kit, so i can open it, and play with the barrel, clean it, and listen to all its "mechanical clicks." i like the ammo box, its really cool.

I second what Noeland said...I immediately thought of the Glaser Safety Slugs (which I first saw in Manhunter and then later real ones). Simply beautiful Nexus6!

Very well done, Nexus6. I love how this prop could actualy work, and you can actualy visualize seeing Deckard use it in the movie (even if he did'nt).

Great job again, Sir(y)thumbsup

I had no idea you made that box from scratch! It's cool enough by itself, but when you add in all of the extra stuff it takes it up a few notches. You, my friend, are too modest! :)

very cool! what did you put in the primer pocket there?
Its a rare hard to find material High impact urethane plastic. Don't ask me to reveal my secrets.

OK, sorry, I just wanted to see if I could type that with a straight face (it didn't really work out :lol). It's actually a [spent] large pistol primer turned backwards, with a nail head epoxied in & then painted)

LOL, I thought you knew that when I showed it to you the other day. *tips hat*
