Arrow from CW's Arrow, the female version

Hello all, first time poster here so I hope I'm not breaking any rules.

I'm IN LOVE with the TV show Arrow. In addition to all the shirtless working out scenes (yum) I think the show is really solid. Good stories, decent acting, excellent fight scenes, all the references to comic book characters. I am a sucker for a brooding tortured hero and I LOVE origin stories.

I'd like to build (my first) a female version of Arrow based off of this show. I'm interesting in it being recognizable as being based off this version but I'd like to jazz it up a bit for a girl. So sexy/cute/badass while being something you could realistically imagine leaping over rooftops while wearing.

If anyone has an ideas to get me started I'd love to hear them. I have poor to decent sewing skills and I'm an excellent Ebay shopper.

Hey there and welcome I'm a massive fan of arrow as well just watched it lol I think you'll need to look at faux leather fir the suit

I was also thinking about Faux Leather. It appears to be a jacket/pants/hood combo and I'm assuming some sort of T shirt underneath it all.

I can't quite tell if the pants/jacket are also green since he's always lurking about in the shadows. I have a pic of the actual suit but it's behind a glass case and the reflections make it hard to tell if it's a dark dark green or a black. I'm pretty sure the entire thing is dark dark green but it's hard to tell.

Faux leather, or vinyl, would probably be great for the bulk costume itself. For the chest and hood accents, they look more like a cloth material, so I would see what kind of rough, durable material you can get your hands on for that.

In the show, I think the pants might be leather, but purely from a comfort standpoint (and since you are already adapting the costume somewhat) I would make them a tight fitting pair of pants. The material should be one in which the texture is visible (such as denim). It will give a durable appearance, fit snugly, but still allow you to breathe.

As for how to achieve the "sexy/cute/badass" aspect, I would just make sure it is as form fitting and figure-flattering as possible, without exposing too much skin, so that it still looks practical. But female comic book characters are famous (or infamous) for exposed skin no matter how impractical it might be, so if you would like to go that route, I recommend either bare arms (with some sort of accents i.e. arm bands, wrist guards, etc.) or an exposed neck and upper chest (read: no more than a couple inches below the clavicle).

I hope it turns out well for ya! Sounds like a good project.

Ok, I've decided to start with pants as I hope they'll be a bit easier to find. Maybe not.

I found this pair in actual leather but they are not very fitted

The jacket that is closest is this one here, but I don't know if I quite like it and it isn't a dark enough green

Also a first time poster, also planning a female Arrow costume! I have decent sewing experience, so I'm confident in being able to put together at least the jacket part myself.

I took a look at the above ebay links, but so far haven't been able to find similar stuff in my size, so I'm planning on starting from scratch. I've been unable to find apparel-weight faux leather though. Has anyone either started their own Arrow costume for scratch and have any tips, or at least know where I might be able to find appropriate faux leather/matte vinyl fabric that isn't upholstry-weight? Or a substitute?

If all else fails, I'm thinking about doing the pants and jacket in denim with faux leather accents (gauntlets, shinguards) but would like to try and be as accurate as possible, if possible.

ETA: The closest fabric I've been able to find is this, but it's not available in green (at least that I've been able to find.)

Ooh, I'm excited to see what you ladies come up with! I'm planning a female Green Arrow costume as well, but (very loosely) based on the comic book version rather than the TV show.

Geekgurl, I imagine the stretch pants/leggings would be a better choice for your sexy/badass twist. They will also likely be *much* cooler to wear at a con than real leather! And as for the jacket, you could always get it in black and add green accents, unless you were trying to go for something more screen-accurate.

I like all the links, the jacket is great, I would defo go with that and add the brown shoulder area with brown canvas material maybe?.... can't wait for progress pics
