Arkham Red Hood (Jason Todd) Variant WIP

Special thanks to Punky859 for the idea.:lol

So here is the list of what I need:

Red Hood Mask (This has changed and will be made from something similar to the Jumpsuit)
Orange Jump Suit
Some kind of Gothic Cuffs:angel
Black Leather Gloves
Boots
A bar-code Stencil
A Patch that says "AACI" & "J.Todd" With "469" on it too
Stencils for putting Arkham Asylum on the back of the shirt

I have just ordered these::love

The Mask

The Jumpsuit

The Cuffs:angel

The Gloves

I have some 'dress' boots laying around that will play the part until I can get a couple hundred dollars for the perfect pair of combat boots and I have plenty of exta chains from my tripp pants (Couldn't take the noise they made and couldn't wear them around school if I left them on) To extend the cuffs to a good length.:thumbsup

Once the parts arrive in the mail I will put them on, hem what needs to be hemmed and have someone take some pictures, then I'll put something white on the eye holes that I can see through but others cant, like some fabric that can be seen through if you are close to it, but not if you are far away.

I'm not sure where I'll get the patch I need, but there is a fabric shop a few miles from my house that may be able to make it.:thumbsup

So, what do you guys (and Gals) think so far?
Feel free to leave questions, comments, hate mail, and corrections on my spelling as you see fit. Hate Internet Explorer's lack of a spell check. :)

i'm kind of furious ive just seen my local comic book store trying to sell one of those hoods for 30 bucks on ebay..

Yea, they are going for 4-5 dollars every day, I only paid what I did because I was tired of waiting and wanted to get one shipped ASAP along with the other parts.

hey man thanks for crediting me :D :p and i just got some suggestions..... for the name thing.... it should definitely say todd.....or Jason.T for the mask they wouldnt allow him to have that in jail (let alone a madhouse) so the hood should be made from parts of his jumpsuit....... (just thought of that due to some guy making a deadpool video where he got jailed and did just that) or something he made in arts and crafts.... i know this cos i actually have been to jail...... nice folks there... women are scary but generally nice guys :D good luck with your costume

I agree with Punky that it should be made of parts of the jumpsuit. It could be splattered with red paint to look like it was dyed with blood or paint found in jail. The back should sat Arkham Asylum and have 'Dangerous Inmate' under it. I think it should be J.Todd on the suit as they do use their names instead of their aliases.

I'm not sure about the boots and gloves as they don't give gloves to inmates.

If you're going for him escaping Arkham after being in there for a while it would be nice to have the gloves and boots and the handcuff on one wrist as if he broke free.

Chris

Of course I'd credit you Punky, glad to hear jail wasn't too bad

I think I like J.Todd the best so far, as far as the mask, I'm thinking of putting 'stitch' marks all over the mask (Kind of like the Scarecrow) So it looks arts and craft made, and I think I might try to change the red a little so it looks more mixed with orange. But I'd like someone to prove me wrong on this thought please:

In the comics or animated series (The old one, not that crummy the batman one) didn't they let Scarecrow keep his mask?

As another thought, I just added this to the top because I almost forgot it:

A Patch that says "Arkham Asylum Corrections Facility" (It will go either above or below the name I think, if the name does not go on the front instead)
Patch that either says "Todd", "Jason", "Red Hood", or "Jason Todd" (please let me know which you think, it will be on the back of the top, right in the center of the shoulders and the numbers on the right breast with the barcode above and a barcode covering the logo on the back of the SDCC mask)

And finally, if anyone has pictures of Arkham inmates of any kind, feel free to post them since I could only find custom toys pics.

hey there NEO found some pictures for ya

ill try to do a colourless sketch of what my mind and hand thinks he should look like.... ill post it later today

Okay, thanks, I think I might do something like that patch too from the Darknight picture, but with different numbers, not sure which ones though.

Off Topic, wow I saw that top one coming a mile away, XD
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Oh, and quick update, the Leather Cuffs and Mask were shipped yesterday night.

its funny when its Harley :D :D

Okay, to double post, for the prisoner number patch, or AACI patch I was thinking either number 462, 469, or 635

462: issue # of the first of the 8 parts of death in the family, where Todd was killed
469: issue # of the last of the 8
635: issue # of Jason Todd's first appearance as The Red Hood

I would love if some people would help me make up my mind

And what's the font on the patches in the darknight?

hmmm, I always thought Death in the family was a four part series that started at #426-#429

Maybe number 428 would be perfect. I think that is the actual issue he dies in...I have it somewhere..it is my favorite batman cover in the series....

also, what did you think of the comics i recommended? I wish I would have kept all of them. The whole lead up to finding out jason was red hood was pretty cool....They had some pretty great fighting scenes between nightwing/ batman/ red hood..

I may have had the issue numbers wrong, I forget where I got them, as for what I thought about the ones you recommended, not only did I buy them, I also got the 1st 2 lost days issues with the 3rd one on the way, loved the 25th Annual, and got batman and robin 4 and 6, with 5 on the way, and the teen titans was my favorite so far, my favorite cove is the first issue of the Lost Days though. and I'm also getting issue 641, if there are any others you know of I'd love to know what they are as google can be misleading and wikipedia doesn't bother with issue numbers.

hey here NEO!!! finally got that sketch i promised :D here it is red hood variant | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
what do you think??? ill answer some questions cos my scanner isnt the best :/
:) Yay, someone with similar drawing skills to me!!!
Anyway, it's cool, I'll sketch mine up sometime today and post it as well. :thumbsup

Edit: I just finished them, as soon as I can scan them I'll post them, I drew a front and back, but only the top half, I don't have special plans for the pants or boots yet, as for the gloves, maybe they should be fingerless and frayed instead of solid so they look old and home made too?

Here are the scans:
(The pics vanished, so I'm going to attach them at the bottom of this post)

Edit: Update on the SDCC Mask, it left California at 9:30 yesterday.
The Cuffs are coming from Hong Kong
The comics haven't been shipped according to ebay, and neither has the jumpsuit. T.T

(For better detail on the pictures, open them in new tabs so they aren't reduced, just a warning, they are huge)

Extra update on the mask, it passed through Orlando at 21:54 PM MST today, so I should have it by tomorrow, it's only a city or two away!

sweet skeyches NEO..... very similar to mine haha fingerless gloves would be about right

cant wait to see your mask..... i might try doing the movie version of the red hood mask.... i have it all planned out........shoot me a pm and ill send you my plan....

quick update on my sketches..... i got the chest of my odst finished

only in concept art tho.... ill be painting it when i get spray paint

oh yeah ... for his mask i think all the stitches should connect in chunks like in my sketch..... it shows that he was using bits and pieces of what he found for his mask no matter how they were shaped

I know, I'm not good at sketching stitches (say that 3xs fast!)

I got the mask, I'll have pictures later, but it's too tight! Now I know my head is almost a perfect circle, and the mask is so tight you can see my lips through it clear as day, so now I need some kind of shell or something.

Oh, and PM sent

Update on the jumpsuit: It shipped from who knows where today.
The Cuffs: Like the jumpsuit, no tracking # Butttt, the cuffs are coming from across the world while the suit is somewhere in america.

Okay, so here are the pictures, I couldn't get help taking them so sorry if they are a little crummy, I decided to wear the jacket since I thought it was funny.

Though I look like a S&M slave in that mask, it pushes on my nose and you can see my lips very easily.

I just ordered the gloves a few minutes ago, see the top post for a link to the site.

Anyway, based on these pictures, I think some kind of under mask is in order to hold it correctly, as well as some extra fabric so it isn't as tight.

And the most important thing: White material or something to cover the eyes holes.

Edit: Update on the gloves, they will be shipped out some time tomorrow, and should arrive shortly.

The jumpsuit came today, I took some pictures without the mask, then jumped in the shower, so as soon as all that hair drys I'll put the mask on and try the suit again.
