Anyone recognise what this toy blaster is based on?

Okay, so I've been seeing variations of this gun now for a few weeks in a number of pound shops (dollar stores to you 'Mericans) & cheap toy places. I liked the chunky design.
One was clear plastic 'rattle' type thing, another was a black and orange laser-tag type gun, and this one:

UnknownBlaster1.jpg

It fires rubber suction darts, and has a sound chip - pull back the slide to cock the mechanism and it goes 'Ka-Chk.', pull the trigger and it goes 'Blam.' (very loudly.), and the lower barrel tip lights up.
It measures in at just over 9" long, and 6" tall, and has the makers name 'New Forest".

Anyone know if this is from a movie or TV show? I get a real anime feeling about it, but it could be from something like the live-action Zeiram movie (maybe its the barrel shroud, etc).

Any ideas anyone?

No idea where it is from, but I have a very similar one which I'm in the process of repainting. Mine is a made in China knock off.

Mine has more elaborate, but uber corny sounds. It includes the word 'fire.' in between rapid fire bursts. I suppose this is some sort of security feature so that the sound can not be modified to sound more real and pass off as a real weapon. Mine don't fire any kind of projectiles, the barrel has a lighted tube that goes out and in, and the clear barrel used to have a propeller thing which swirls around some foam beads.

Its original moulding is fro the cybershot revolv lasertag gun. Obviously since then its been knocked off by the various chinese manufacturers as a casing for the cheap toys.

Which cain of £ shop did you find it in as Id quite like to pick up a few of them myself. For the sound chips if nothing else :)

Hey I'd gladly pay for postage and take the shells off your hands if all you want is the sound chip :)

The original definitely look better then my knock off.

You know this kinda makes me think Andromeda. They used a number of unmodified toy guns.

I've got a very similar piece, from a toy company called "Guangdong AULDEY"... the name appears to be Cyber Revolver 2050. It's a light tag gun with moving parts and sound effects.

Many details are different but it seems similar.

Thanks for the info guys. Forgot to mention, the box states it as a "2 in 1 Dart Shooter", with the 'brand' "Spy Mission", with the name Fun-tastic, and a PO Box address in Willenhall, UK.

I got this particular version off of ebay, but I've seen the lasertag ones in my local market here in Leeds.

Phase Pistol, yours looks like an upgraded version of this one. :)

I wonder if they're designed by the same people who work on Nerf guns? Very similar traits.

I've seen a similar watergun in the shops the last couple of years--I'm guessing they're about half size :rolleyes

I just posted a link to this site in another topic as well but this is their version:

We are not sure what actual gun this toy is modeled after, but it is a blast. The top action slides back and forth and the cylinder spins around when the trigger is pulled. You can flip a switch on the side and an actual laser site comes out of the barrel.

Comes in 3 colors Silver/Orange, Silver/Blue, or Silver/Red.... sorry, we pick depending on availability.

Check E-Bay as well - I picked up a different 'brand' (called the TERMINATOR light gun set) and color style of the lazer-tag setup posted by Phase Pistol, though nowhere near as nicely painted. The blaster itself is nicely sized, and feels good in an adult hand; it's small enough to be closer to a real-world gun instead of the handcannons people sometimes make from other toy guns, but after given a proper paintjob looks as sleek and menacing as you could imagine. I'm filling in the stamped logo and such on either side of the 'slide', and applying grip detail and such, but even just given a good once-over with vinyl dye and an overcoat of dark metallic gray the thing looks ready to blast through any invasion. Really fun design. :)

Here are a couple hero shots of the Auldey... you can see the switch is on, the red light on the side blinks constantly while the "clip" is full... after ten shots you're empty and further trigger pulls make "clicking" sounds, plus the light goes off. You pull back the orange bit on top to "reload".
