Anybody think this has potential to be turned into a full-on Zelda movie?

Seems like some pretty high-quality work. And someone finally cast the right guy as Link!

Thoughts?

High production value for a fan film for sure. As for feature potential, I don't think so. The actor does look the part though!

I agree it's a nicely done piece but I can't see a full fan film not being crushed by nintendo. Heck we're just now getting nintendo to stop doing that crappy cartoon style zelda and get him back to looking like a real person lol

Well, a Kickstarter or similar fundraising effort would probably end them but if they just went out and did something and didn't make a profit on it? They'd probably be fine.

I was referring more to the fact that although the production value was good for a fan film, it didn't even begin to approach what would be needed for a proper feature worth watching. They actually did what people should do when they want to do something like this. No dialogue, just a cool scene at one location done pretty well. Great for a fan to watch, not exactly meant to be expanded to a feature with a story and real acting.

I remember seeing this when it came out 6 years ago and thinking if it were real it could have some legs despite it's slightly sub par CG:

Still just a short thing but builds a bit of a story.

Hey now, the Windwaker was a stylistic choice that really worked not only for the time but also for the handheld branch of the Zelda series. I can really appreciate that artistic choice. And it's been ages since Nintendo went back to the "realistic" Link for console. Twilight Princess came out in 2006. 8 years ago.

Hate to be a negative nelly but the fight choreography was subpar and Links costume could've been the green version and looked much better, IMO. I'm no sword expert but his stance looked all wrong! Plus he just needed to hit the spiders with his slingshot, we all know that!

Eh, it was decent, but not really that great. They seemed to pay more attention to mimicking things from the game (like the stupid little hop near the beginning instead of just stepping over the gap), than they did into making it look realistic. Except for the fact that a) you don't fight Skulltulas like that, and b) Skulltulas don't move like that.

IGN's was much better. I can definitely see IGN and Nintendo teaming up to pitch that to a film studio (if Nintendo wanted to, but, hey, they are shopping around Mario right now), but not this.

That shot film was actualy pretty epic and would actually be a pretty epic movie but if they do they same thing as they did with the mario movie and leave the whole thing to somebody else it will end up sucking, if they do one it needs to be completely run by nintendo or it will suck.
