Anybody else get one of these? The neck does not stretch at all - seems like they used the wrong type of stitching on the trim & I'm worried about tearing it.

Howdy - yup, it is a TIGHT squeeze. We noticed this on the screen used 2009 undershirts we got to handle. It seemed that this was the trade-off for that tight to neck look they were able to accomplish. For the new movie, they learned their lesson with some shirts and actually implemented a zipper.

For this neck though, I find that putting it on is not so much the trouble but if you take it off, angle it so that the back comes off first, the followed by the front.

The things we do for the right look.

Just got done watching Into Darkness on Blu Ray and notices some things about the undershirts...
First, it looks like the "Khan" style undershirt with the mock turtleneck is only worn without the tunic. Any time an actor is wearing the tunic, they are either wearing the first movie style undershirt, or a variation that has a slightly taller neckline with a zipper in the back.
My assumption is that the costume designer liked the height of the mock turtle neck shirt, but did not like the seam line, so a variation was made.

In any case, owning both versions of the Anovos undershirt, I have to say the "Khan" style fits over your head better, but you have a little slack in the back so it does not fit as snug and uniform as the 09 version. It looks to have a pleasing height because of the mock turtle neck BUT you get that seam line which is not present in the movie.

The 09 version on the other hand also looks very good when worn with the tunic (though I don't like the low-sloping yoke seam when worn by itself), I find that if I make sure the shirt is straightened and the collar adjusted anytime I get up from sitting down, everything looks really good.

I kinda wish I could have a version that is a combination of the two - I love the cuffs on the 09 version, but would want it without the sloping seam line like on the Into Darkness version.
Ahhh well, such is our hobby....we shall never be happy lol

good to hear some news about the undershirts. i haven't heard much from people in way of reviews. i think you are spot on in your observations. its strange the costume designers couldn't come up with some sort of in-between because it is obvious they are two different shirts. and i agree about the cuffs on the khan version, i just don't like that knitted cuff idea, i would prob get the non khan version myself and then maybe fashion a "dickie" to give the right neck height with out a visible seam

Slightly off topic, but who knows where to get the utility belt used in the movies? I think I remember seeing that this was a found item...

I'm looking, too. I think it might have been French military, but I could be way off.

I found it on another thread late last night....I will have to check the name again.
That being a found item I want to start a JY thread for interest in the holster...

GeneralFROSTY, I recently bought the Into Darkness undershirt and when I pickup a tunic I want to get a ST09 version at the same time.

Other than the neckline (which I agree doesnt fit as snug around the back on mine either but isnt a major problem) how do they compare fit wise?

I had thought about trying a size smaller next time (I bought a XL in the 'Khan' style) and its not massively baggy just long at the waist which could be taken up. Trying to gauge size for the undershirt from the first movie as well as the tunic over it based on the sizing of the Khan shirt.

Cheers

Chris
