It would appear that Anovo's is going to release their first Star Trek Tunic late this year or early next year. It will be the blue colored Science Uniform.

Release Date:
Dec. 2010/Jan. 2011

Pricing:
Around $400-$440.
Custom size will have additional charge. :confused
Rank Stripes also carry an additional charge. :wacko

You could buy a high end prop replica for that price. I'm not an expert on costume replicas, but does this seem like a good deal to you folks?

Pricing has not yet been finalized on the tunic, but it should range from $400-$440 (with small additional fee for rank stripes). Each tunic will also come with a science pin (made by QMx). The Star Trek 2009 Starfleet Blue Tunic Replica will be available Dec 2010/Jan 2011, and you will be able to place a reservation at the Anovos site ( Star Trek Replicas | ANOVOS).

So there still is room in the pricing.

I am not sure if the Trek fans that do costuming would buy an item in that price range. A complete outfit would cost you around 1000 US-$, without props, I (wildly) guess.

I never thought the Trek costumers to be so willing to fork over the big bucks for accurate Star Fleet tunics. I can see that for other items like TMP jumpsuits or II-VI jackets, but not necessarily for a (very well done and absolutely accurate) shirt of the reimagination.

Got Maul sure is reading this thread and will chime in.

I was really looking forward to these uniforms as well....only not at that steep of a price. I have no doubts about the quality, but...just wow. I guess i can always see if the wife can help me make a custom red shirt, or I'll hold out and see what the uniforms look like in the next film in the series and see if the prices drop.

Considering that it is Licensed and used the same material as the Production made ones, yes it is a good deal.

You have to change your mindset on Costume replicas.

This is a high end costume replica, no scratch that this is a Tunic that looks like it walked off the set, using the exact same materials.

For anyone coming out to Comic Con, I believe the Anovos guys will have the Trek prototype shirt on display as well as a number of BSG pieces. Looking forward to seeing these myself and see how close the prototype is, especially since I had a chance to handle the originals at Paramount.

We do, back when Adam and James Cawley, who did extremely limited runs if you can even call them that, A Tunic and Pants were about a Thou.

Jose, any news on the TOS line-up Gotta make my wallet lighter! :lol

Apollo, sorry, I meant to say "the general and average trek folk" ;) I can only tell from my toy collector market experiences that it´s a bit different to Star Wars.

Trek fans may shell out a lot of money on costumes and collectables, but I just don't think there's a market for this. They were in one movie. They aren't nearly so iconic as the TOS, TNG or other movie uniforms.

Of course, I'm a hard core Trek fan and wouldn't be caught dead spending any money on anything from Abrams' nuTrek :p

Hard core Trekker here, and I won't be spending that kind of cash. Perhaps on a TOS tunic and pants for that price, but not the JJ Abrams drivel...

Hey all, thanks for the comments. I know there are a lot of divided camps, but hey, we are here for the TOS too ! Us and the Cawley camp are EAGER to jump this project ahead.

The one thing these articles do not mention is the way we do orders. From our site, you will have a window of time to make your pre-order because once this time closes, there is no telling when the next run will be. Therefore, when pre-ordering opens, we really do mean that its opened because in a few short weeks it will close.

Secondly, in regard to pricing for the XI suits, we are not locked into pricing YET. There are a lot of factors that play into it but just to give you an idea, we are looking at being able to do the whole costume (sans boots...for right now) around the $600 mark. This has always been our goal and at that price, it rivals some of the complete SW outfits I have now.

Yea, that's really not all that bad a price for a whole costume. A good Indy will cost you up to $2000, a good Tenth Doctor will cost you more than that.

I'm personally a fan of the XI uniform pants, I think they look cool and just might end up buying some from you guys.

I would gladly drop $500/$600 for a dead-on accurate TOS tunic and pants. Also TNG outfits would get my money, which I think would sell far better than the new film uniforms.

Gotta agree with TK on this one. Just the tunic alone for that price.. Probably not, but add the pants, yes, and I'd be totally interested in that!

I have bought designer couture dresses for more money than this, and I probably wear them less often than I would a well made costume since I go to a fair amount of cons every year. I can appreciate that hard work that went into research and the creation of this garment. That said, I'm not really into Trek, so I'm probably not going to buy this one. However, when the BSG stuff comes out....then I'll have the credit card in hand. :D

C'mon Risu, I got a pretty good Indy gear setup for UNDER a grand. It all depends on how far the Rabbit hole you can afford to go!
I am looking forward to seeing the Anovos products begin to roll out - like many here, I have been supporting thier work since the beginning and I am realy excited to see the final products!
Remember....flexpay!!
