Another Crappy Hardware Saber

Wow. That is very cool, have you considered putting in LED or sound? Would you have enough room for that?
Even if it was not considered a "stunt" saber, its still an excellent piece of work. I always liked scratch build props. So, I will say very well done.

The way it's assembled, with the threaded tube running up the middle, it really wouldn't accomodate any electronics. But since I found a second candlestick, maybe I can make a functional version of the saber too.

And thanks for the kind words (both of you). I think it did turn out well.

I've cut back the corrugated grip on the first saber (on the page) to add a silver section onto which I'd mount a cell phone button. Sorry, no pics. I didn't want to mount the button on the grip, and mounting it on the pommel seemed too far down.

Looking at it, I'm not sure I'm happy with it, and I'll have to return it to it's original condition. At least it's a "modular" design, that's easily modified. Oh well...

Yep, I changed it back. I was in a thrift shop today and found three more of the candlesticks featuring the "cup" that became the basis for the emitter, with the addition of the sink flange.

Man, I'm trying to use up all the parts I've stockpiled for building sabers, and give it up, but this just isn't making things easy. Every time I think I'm out, I get pulled right back in!

I used one of those cups and another sink drain flange to fabricate a new emitter. Once again using threaded brass lamp tube to assemble the saber. Useful stuff, that.

For the polished brass neck, I am again using a candlestick, though not the same as the other saber. It's shorter and has no "windvane" detail, but it does mate well with the underside of the emitter. Beyond that, I've attached a length of sump pump drain hose over a section of 1.25" PVC extension pipe for the forward grip. Sorry, no pics as yet.

I haven't decided what the remainder of the saber will be, but I'm leaning toward a "Plate Saber" design with a Graflex style bottom/grips rather than the gear/pommel of an Obi ANH or what have you.
