Tom, can you do some over-lays of the new combination against some ANH and ESB grabs? That should be interesting. The neck length should be interesting.


See if we can align the face and the dome (yeah, I have no idea why we use the word "dome" instead of helmet )

Thanks for the PM I am really glad it is the faceplate I thought it was (I am also glad and relieved everything turned out ok in the end and the end results were so good).

I think it is possibly the best ANH faceplate apart from the darthjones helmet I have seen. To be honest to my untrained eye I can't see too much of a difference between the darthjones and this one when looking at the pics on www.starwarshelmets.com.

It would be nice to see one finished up painted with lenses, tusks and chin vents completed.

Maybe one day (hopefully soon :love ).

Although I've not seen the DJ helmet up close, I know for sure the DJ is further up the lineage as it's reportedly from an ILM mold taken off the screen helmet, which I believe. This faceplate is larger than any fan helmet derived from the 20th Century faceplate (which is not surprising given it's an offshoot from ESB) and also nearly identical to the GH ANH master faceplate in terms of size. There are actually differences in details between this faceplate and the DJ...but only insofar as this faceplate was cleaned up slightly in areas, for example the right side of the nosebridge and the front face of the teeth. There are no tabs, they have been cleaned off. Plus, of course, this faceplate is smaller than the DJ, not surprisingly. There's a story about the origin of this faceplate which I'm not at liberty (I suppose) to discuss but at present I don't see that story as being consistent with what this faceplate is. It is from ROTJ era, yes, but it's undoubtedly ANH in origin. Put it up against any screengrab, it's the real deal. Apart from size and a little cleanup there's nothing lacking on this faceplate. But it's not derived from the screen ANH faceplate, that I know for a fact. It is a source different from the screen ANH but similar to the source of the ESB faceplates.

If you mean that ebay auction mask (???...it's not green), I'm not sure, but I would guess if it's from the original mold as the auction claimed then it would have to be larger than this one since this one is smaller than the DJ, and the DJ should be similar to the original.
