An interesting find about resin

Please ignore if this is common knowledge, but I've been trying to figure out how much resin one of my molds takes and decided to weigh out both the liquid and a cured casting... so guess what... they are identical in weight! :confused

I wonder if silicone is the same way, anyone know?

Every product is a little different on their mix ratios. I use some resins that are 1:1 by weight and some that are 1:0.9.

The rubber I use is 10:1.

usually before I cast a piece. I take the master, and submerge it in a large mixing cup full of water. Then when I remove it I take note of how many ounces the water level drops. I then use a thin layer of clay on the bottom of my mold box, and scribe in the measurment. That way it is molded into the mold, and I can always look at it when I need to.
