'All Custom' Gonk Droid Box from 1999

Around 1999 I started to build a Gonk GNK Power Droid from scratch. I created blueprints by tracing a paused VHS copy of Star Wars and built this box out of wood and bondo.

My plan at the time was to use this as a buck and have a batch of Gonk shells vacuum-formed out of black ABS.
Well, that never happened.

The sculpt is a bit wonky but overall pretty good. I think the bottom lip is bigger than it should be, but that could be trimmed easily.

The box is still hanging out at my parents' house. They're going to move in the next few years and so I'll have to decide what to do with it once and for all: to Gonk or not to Gonk.

I'm itching to build a Gonk... Was that to scale? seems small.

You should gonk. Won't do me a lot of good since I wouldn't be able to vac form it, and if you did, it would kill me in shipping to get to halves.

Cool project though!

Yes it's full sized. The big waist might make it look smaller.
I scaled it based on R2's height when Gonk walks by him in the sand crawler.
Not that that's scientific, but anyone who's searched for good Gonk reference knows that there isn't too much available.

Honestly by now I thought there'd be tons of information and scholarship about the Gonk but apparently not.

I wonder if an original even survives?
