I wanted to start a thread about acquiring a replica pulse rifle, but I found this one and figured I'd just piggyback.
I've done research based on other threads and suggestions here, and at the Colonial Marines forum, and I think I'm going to do a Spat kit as well.
However, I understand that the limitations of resin mean that there are some parts that are solid when they should be hollow - the most obvious being the barrel(?) that protudes from the front of the shroud (and is mounted over the SPAS 12 assemblage), and the other being the stock. Both of these parts feature holes impossible to duplicate in resin (without breakage or warping - I've seen resin attempts at these parts).
Having said that, I'm interested in purchasing metal replacements for these parts. Is this possible/plausible? I've seen the parts - some for sale in the Junkyard, even - but will they fit properly with a little work?
I'm actually not a bad modeler, and am adept with a dremel and materials, so a little effort wouldn't be an issue - massive discrepancies in scale would be.
Any insight?
