ALIENS 1:6th scale remote controlled USCM APC

I've got that issue of SF&FM, but to actually see pics of the build and video of it running.......just brilliant.
It is one impressive build.
Thanx for the link, I've saved this one.

Tim,

The APC kicks 1/6th scale a$$. Thanks for sharing the build and details with us.

Got the magazine just for this model. There's plenty of photos -- but damn -- not near as many as you really want. Genius build. So, is Master Replicas or Sideshow listening? Buy this guy's master and MAKE a run of these. Doesn't have to be radio-controlled, (although that would be damn nice) but the interior is a must-have.

Somebody. Please.

Well arc60, Hot Toys has already ripped off Chris' USCM Rifleman armor and gear for their Hicks figure (yes, they made masters from one of his kits), so I doubt they would have any heartburn with stealing his work again for producing the APC. :angry

This is from Chris, the builder of this model, which cannot get an account here at this time:

It was another company, not Hot Toys, that copied my stuff. We settled on a friendly basis. I have some of their pirated sets here (smartgunner and rifleman), which they sent me, among other neat stuff, as part of the settlement. They are copies. It might also be made known at this time that I was never trying to keep a lock on the USCM figures or sue anyone. I only wanted the pirates to give me proper credit for the sculpt instead of claiming it was theirs. That only happened after I had their sites shut down over copyright infringement because they would not communicate with me until I had them shut down.

Hot Toys did their own. They may have borrowed some here and there, especially I know, when it came to descriptive text and some copying of the instructions layout but that's OK with me. I always wanted to see the USCM figs made on a production level so more folks could have them. BTW, the figures in the APC picture are the copies.

Thanks for clearing that up, Tim. I knew something happened along those lines, but it's been a while since I've spoken to Chris person to person and I don't remember him saying that the situation had been settled. So, my bad... I stand corrected. :cheers

Yeah, I obviously don't want Chris to get ripped off, but an APC at that scale has always been a Holy Grail of mine. I still wish Sideshow or MR or, WHOEVER would buy Chris's master (and pay him handsomely) and make these available to the masses.

Alan

WOW. I've talked to Chris about this over the years but never realized he was making this radio controlled. Color me even MORE impressed.

Whatever happened to the full size APC? I need one to drive to work.

It was a British Airways Aircraft Tug and after use and some promotional work it was returned to British Airways, repainted and put back into service. My father was Ramp Controller for the section at Heathrow that they took the tug from. May well still be in use now as they last forever.
