ALIEN probe?

Does anyone have any idea of what the lighted probes they used in the movie ALIEN were, and where to get them? They resembled a fiber optic around the corner penlight, but the seemed a lot longer and I don't think they actually bent....

Some kind of medical equipment, IIRC. I also believe someone found the actual item and they are kinda expensive...

IIRC RPF member JudgeDredd had one for sale here once. I believe he works in the surgical unit of a hospital where these are used in the theatre.

Another option, though not accurate, but close enough, would be to look in to bore lights. These are used to check the barrels of firearms and are fairly cheap. You might be able to dress it up enough to look like the one in Alien.

i remember having the blue handled ones but that was many years ago! the medical ones are around $140 but i am sure you can get non medical somewhere.
