Affordable boots?

I reccomend the Devon-Aire boots as well. I own a pair myself. And it's fairly easy to have them altered to have the top angle removed.

I own them for my Solo as well. Highly recommended. Being broke at the time, I cut the tops flat with a box cutter. Not that I recommend that.

Hey im a size 14 too, big feet, small world. Ive been trying to get high riding boots for under 200 bucks for years. Id like some jedi boots, and imperial officer/vader boots. if you find anything let me know, ill do the same.

Yeah, you have a rough road ahead of you my friend. I spent a couple of years working as a costume crafts person (deals with accessories) at a very large regional theatre, and if it says anything to ya, our size 13 and up boots were practically kept under lock and key.
I do believe we found a pair of size 14 Devon-Aires for cheaper than the above listing tho. I just can't remember where.

I can get simple (not Anakin's) custom leather boots made for around 250, shipped. The boot maker I use has a turnaround time of about 3 months, sometimes more, but his workmanship is superb.

PM me if anyone is interested.

so ive got this link to a website with costume boots, and darklordvader and i were thinking about getting some size 14 boots from this guy. I asked how durable they are because they are synthetic leather, can i polish them, how thick is the sole, is the sole glued on or stitched on, and the response back was,"they are costume boots." So does that mean they suck? its hard enough getting shoes our size, nevermind stuff for a costume. heres the link:http://www.911buycostume.com/Pages/gogoboots/boot01.htm

I know. I asked the guy several questions and got the same type of one sentence reply as well. Lacking just a bit in the customer service department there.. makes me a bit nervous about buying from him. I'm not saying the guy is a scammer, I'm saying that it would be nice to actually get a bit mroe of a answer when it comes to asking about something you want to buy.

Don't get those boots from Grand Prix, I bought a pair myself from them a few years back and their customer service sucks. The boots were "o.k." but had about the same quality as those cheap rubber boots you can get at Wal-Mart for winter.

Well, that is a reasonable answer. These are the vinyl costume boots seen on eBay and other costume sites all over the net. They are pretty cheap and have a history of falling apart, for some folks, after long wear. They are cheaply made boots. Made out of vinyl. So, I guess you could polish them. But I don't know how good the results would be. I'm guessing the sole is glued on. I mean how much can you expect for the price?

If they are your only alternative to custom made, then go ahead. If they fall apart you are only down 40-50 bucks.

I guess what Im saying is, I have synthetic leather shoes that I bought for the same price and they are alright, and all I wanted this guy to do was to tell me are these cheap vinyl, or are they tougher. Your right, I guess my only choice is to buy them and if I dont like them, put them on ebay before I wear them outside.

I think I might go with boots from here
http://www.911buycostume.com/Pages/gogoboots/boot01.htm

but now I need to figure out which to get. I wear a size 14 shoe/boot. I just need to figure out what size to get calf wise so I'm not swimming in them. I'll risk the 40 dollars.

Any advice?

I own two pair of these. No, they are not your standard sheepskin leather, soft, and beautifully shiny, but they work and look nice. I've worn mine a lot and I would say they look just as good in costume as the $300.00 counterparts. The good thing is that if they last you a little while and then wear out, you can just get a brand new pair. They have your size, so go with it. I own the black and brown pair. They can be shined just to let you know. I would go with this one.

If I'm wrong, I pre-emptively apologize, but wasn't it the folks at Grand Prix that got really bitchy when some folks admitted that they were getting their boots for Star Wars costumes rather than the equestrian purposes?
