I know a bunch of you have been patiently waiting for my screen accurate P1 backpack for quite some time now. I'm happy to say it's under way, starting from the inside out. Yup, I'm doing the Medkit carrier first, then building the outer shell. The Medkit will function exactly as seen in the film. There will be 2 versions of the backpack, one with the Medkit, and one without. I will be enlisting the aid of Mr. Andrews on this and will have it out in time for Halloween. Yes, it will be constructed to fit Scott's torso armor HERE as well as my cannon. Below is a photo of the Medkit tools which took a long time in locating, and altering to some extent. They are all molded now and I will be posting a photo of the cast pieces soon. Stay tuned to this thread for updates.....

I used to have one of the Hypo Guns. Found it for $5 back in 1994. Then I turned around an sold it for $50 on EBay. It was an exact match to the Predator hypo, including the plunger and clear tube. I should have kept it. :)

I know haw difficult it was to track all of the pieces for the medkit, Carl!! KUDOS!!!

Looks great Carl, have you decided on the material you plan to use on the backpack yet? I would think a light weight thin resin backed with fiberglass would work for the whole thing. The original one seemed to be a plastic or resin of some sort. And could be left hallow to add any animatronics or battery packs inside. Cant wait to see the complete piece im shure its gonna kick ass.

Excellent news Carl, im positive itll be up to the exact same standard as your upper armour and Scotts chest peice.

P.s Ive got several of those items here i collected a long time ago, look almost exactly the same as yours which makes me happy as i know your spot on. :)

That looks great Carl. I think Scott noticed the same thing that I did though. Your pour spouts are perfect but you need some thin breathers to let air escape. With all those thin strange shaped tools, that thing is an air trap nightmare. Other than that nice work as usual.

Yes, you and Scott are correct about the potential air trap hazards. I constructed the mold with the intention of pre-pouring resin in areas before closing the mold and then doing a second pour---a process I've done before that works, especially on small, thin features. If it doesn't with these tools, I will be obliged to cut in additional breathers. I'll let you guys know how I make out. Thanks for the assist.

That's one I haven't seen done yet, a working medpack! Very nice Carl, looking forward to seeing this one finished! :)

Yeah, me too!
You know me, gotta push that envelope.

To answer your question Dwayne, the backpack will probably be a composite of resin and urethane rubber, or perhaps latex skinned foam--not sure just yet. The gun platform will definitely be resin. And yes, there will be room left over for other things besides the Medkit :).
Right now, I've got a casting theory to prove. I hope Casey and Scott aren't right about the way I made the tools mold....

I wouldn't worry, Carl.

As you said, it will be easy enough to cut a few more thin air holes if needed.

Good Luck!!!

Hope its made from one material that way you dont need 3 differnt kinds of paint to paint it. LOL.

Once the mold is finished and putting out plastic, would it be possible to get a casting of the hypo gun alone for my collection?
