There is no cannon "version". They are all supposed to be the same weapon(s) accross the board.

No one really thought much about these very minor changes during the original filming.

And changes you may see done today would be more fun for the FX artists, and those in that community. Not as cannon or anything.


Try this, look at any variations (same with Luke's) and squint/blur your eyes... that's the cannon version
