3D Printed Lightsabers

It’s no lightsaber but had to post a quick test render of the ESB DL-44 currently printing.

Last photo of this V2 before I start on a Rey blaster and a DL-44

I have some Rub N' Buff myself, and I think I'm going to try this out on a lightsaber that I've printed. Do you have any advice for applying the Rub N' Buff on surfaces with nooks and crannies (like the neck or the emitter)?

Beautiful work!

Thanks. When you have any recess, paint in some gloss black acrylic and wipe the excess away while it’s wet. Then your good to go with the ebony wax.
I use this method on the grooves for example on the graflex clamp. It makes sure that anything likely to get dirt in it, will look accurate. Sometimes I still manage to get the silver wax in there so you can persist and silver it with a bunched cloth or, be carful when applying silver and try to apply it at a right angle to the groove.

sorry if that’s a bit confusing! It’s pretty much trial and error until your happy but the great thing with RnB is that if you mess up, simply let it dry for a few minutes and start over!

Not lightsabers I know but used Rub n’ Buff on my resin Blade Runner blaster while waiting for prints to finish.

Here are some I printed on my cr-10. I want to reprint the senates since I have copper PLA now.

I'm starting to feel like General Grievous lmfao.

Finally some stuff for my mandalorian costume. The gun started off as a NERF gun so it isn't fully 3d printed. The dagger is fully 3d printed though.

So here is my next project. The ESB DL-44 3D Print. Just a few tiny pieces being printed now and I’ll be ready for sanding. Even designed space to add weights inside the receiver.

Don’t want to derail your thread, but I got around to painting a model of mine. I went with your Rub-N-Buff method, although I couldn’t get my hands on the ebony wax, so the finish won’t quite be the same. Still a work in progress.

Looks good

Looks good I purchased the ebony from Amazon. Makes a huge difference.

Finally completed my DL-44 having decided to give the lightsabers a rest for a while. Must say, this has certainly been a challenge but it has all been worthwhile.

A few final images of my 3D printed DL-44 before I get started on an E-11 rifle.

It’s been a busy few weeks so I grabbed a small opportunity to post some images of my favourite 3D prints from the last six months. My collection is almost complete with six of my most loved lightsabers, two Solo DL-44’s and soon to be joined by a Stormtrooper E-11.

Forgot to post this pic of my finished first attempt at an E-11. Feels like so much has happened in the few months since I modelled and printed this but decided against adding the counter and stuff that sits above the magazine since it obscures the scope when being displayed. Maybe for the second attempt!

That looks really good for a 3D print, especially a first attempt.

Wait.....wait.......WAIT! 3D printed, not metal?
Haha, no, not metal. All PLA 3D printed plastic, some lead weights (to give it some form of realism) and a lot of patience (so many parts!)
