Having purchased an Ultimaker S5 recently, i set about reproducing some of my favourite lightsabers from the original Star Wars trilogy. After a few attempts, I thought it would be good to share some images. Hope you like them.

Here is a Luke Skywalker version from ROTJ. I know it is not 100% screen accurate and hopefully I can improve with more attempts but overall, I'm really happy with this so far.

I don't have my own printer but I've bought a few prints off of ebay (Episode 1/2 Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Sidious).
I thought I'd taken photos of my Obi-Wan build but apparently, not specifically

Cad110, that is some really shiny brass and copper on that OWK! What sort of paint did you use? The silver color looks pretty good too.

Thanks. The copper, brass and black are all from the Montana Gold range of spray cans (Copper Silver, Copper Gold and Shot Black) which are low pressure and work as good as an airbrush. The silver is airbrushed with Alclad Chrome. I’ve managed to get some better results with it recently and am currently working on a new print.

Whoops, I just realized that I posted in the wrong thread :p there's another one (that I also had open) about 3D printed Lightsabers, show off your collection"
I didn't mean to accidentally derail!

New print came out well and am working on the paint job. Really happy so far

Have been busy recently with a few new ideas. Having printed a few dozen Luke Jedi hilts I wanted to try something different and quite like the Kylo Ren cross blade. I'll admit, I was unsure when when Episode 7 came out simply because it was SO different but it has kind of grown on me for that very reason and I could not find a decent model out there to print...so I modelled my own and here it is. Hope you like it.

For anyone wanting to give this a try, head over to www.MyMiniFactory.com and download my STL files. Only available for a limited time but if you do, Please post a photo for @ryan_boundy_art

It’s been a while and I’ve probably printed out around a dozen versions of this hilt with each one getting a bit better than the last. Here are some photos of my latest journey, building Luke’s V2.

Beautiful builds! What paint did you use for the silver/metal?
No paint on this one. It was printed in grey PLA, sanded and then I applied a coat of ebony Rub ‘n Buff metallic wax. No primer, just buffed to a gloss black before applying a silver leaf Rub ‘n Buff. I made some scuffs prior to sanding and weathered it by using gloss black acrylic paint, painted on and wiped off while still wet.

A look back at all the hilts I’ve modelled, printed and painted over the last six months. About to finish the Creepy Uncle but not sure it’s my favourite. I think the weathered V2 has the be ‘the’ Luke Jedi Saber?

Thank you for sharing these with us, It's a really good inspiration for what you can do with 3D printed parts. It's hard to tell if they are 3D printed or not! I am curious about your process, though. Would you be up for sharing more about how you get them to look that way? Keep up the great work.
