Been kinda dormant for a while trying to think of something new to do. So I'm stepping (slightly) out of my normal WW2 & Vietnam weapons builds into 3 new scratchbuild guns. For gun enthusiasts, it should be pretty easy to figure out what they are, I think, even from the taped-up rough cuts.

Re: Guess the weapons!- 3 NEW gun scratchbuilds WIP

I'm guessing a Colt Walker, 1851 Navy and SSA Army. Nice work. Here's my SSA (yeah, I know it's not a prop).

I figured that would be pretty quick! Nice job.

Sweet pistol you got there.

Yeh, one of the things that I have to figure out is how to paint these. Of all the guns I've built, the paint jobs have always been the most disappointing part of them. So once I finish the builds, I'm going to have to research painting techniques.

Thanks.

I just edited my post right before you posted yours so I might have the options wrong now. :(

I looked at so many models before picking these, I remembered seeing a Dragoon and thought maybe it was a version of the 1851 Navy. But yes, those are now correct.

Hey if you are feeling adventurous you can make a Harrington & Richardson Model 733 .32 S&W long. No good reps are to be found and it was the gun used in the movie Clue.

Not familiar with that pistol. I'll have to look into it.

In regard to realstic finishes, this is from a Model Gun forum but the particular post relates to painting plastic firearms to end up with a rather realistic finish like this:

Remember this is a plastic replica.

Wow! That looks incredible! I've bookmarked that site for when I ready to start painting. I used to have some of those old LS gun models. Thanks for the link.

A little more progress on the Walker colt.
Here are the basic frames before adding detail
