Hi! I joined so I could say hello and hopefully offer some suggestions as I go through the same process. Although you have quite a start already. My decision to attempt making this dress started percolating in February and hit full steam in March. While I was researching, your post here came up in Google and I've been reading --- some of which I had uncovered through Google as well. I thought I should quit lurking and say hi. I guess I won't be buying that floating fabric but I did buy 12 yards of the silk crepeline. I found it from a site in the UK - if you're interested, I can post you the link. It comes natural but it's ready for dyeing. I have organza in a few shades of blue and lavender. I'm using this vintage pattern -- http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/McCall's_3113 It's the closest I could find for the bodice. I'll be extending the top tier to the floor though, and continuing the swag across the back. Otherwise it's pretty close. I'm interested in seeing how others do on this gown! I'm excited!
I know that Truly Victorian has a great elliptical skirt pattern that would be great. (That's what I'm using. They also have an elliptical crinoline skirt to go under it. It has amazing volume, too!)

I wonder if that's the same pattern my friend used for my wedding dress skirt. It's a gorgeous skirt! We didn't use the crinoline pattern, though. We ended up making a "butt crinoline" to wear over a full crinoline I already owned to make the shape right (and use way less tulle, lol).
