1992 Returns Cowl: Quality questions

So, in an attempt to not break the bank I'm looking to find the best possible cowl for under 100 bucks...

:confused
I know.....

But as of right now that's all the budget really allows.

I'm going more for the look of Batz in Hush and Dead End. A gritty-ish version of the classic Batman look.

Given all of the conditions and expectations I have, the best deal I could find was the 92' returns cowl and aside from a common complaint of it being too small, I think it might be the best.

But I've never met anybody who has bought the rubies 92 cowl personally, so internet reviews are all I can go by.

So I'm more or less looking for any and all feedback regarding the size issues, the ways you retouch and refine its flaws, the overall quality of the cowl, or if there is another option out there, that would be better, within the budget I've placed on the cowl.

A sad reality I am coming to terms with. But thanks for the tip. I plan on upgrade to a reeve cowl at some point in the future, when money is slightly more abundant.

I had a rubies cowl once, I ended up giveing it away about 2 years ago, it just never looked right. A bit small and could not hold its shape very well on the shoulders. Thay are ok if you just want to have a bit of fun, but if you want quality you need to save up some cash, I just a fue week's ago got a Returns Cowl in the Junkyard from Bowelrock, Its now behind glass and looks amazing! but in the mean time Bowelrock is right "Jester FX" are AWESOME !

For financial reasons, a lot of guys making Bat suits start off with one of the Rubies cowls. The best of them was probably the Clooney version but that one is not easy to find. Right now, you are pretty much limited to the 92 or the Begins unless you find a Clooney version on ebay. The 92 really is small. My head is about 23" and you can see in the first pic below how tight it was, as compared to my upgrade in the second. There are modifications you can make my installing a zipper in the back in lieu of the velcro, trimming out parts of the eye holes and the lousy emblem, and putting Model Magic in the ears for support. The cowls are made of vinyl not latex so don't try to spray one with plastidip. I have seen some Rubies cowls modified in ways that made them look ok. Most of the general public will be in awe of it, you just won't get much of a reaction from experienced costumers. Grab one if the price is right, build your suit around it, then save for a future upgrade. And come see us at the Brotherhood of the Bat.
