1-72 X-Wing by Bandai

As has been said, once you snap these parts together they are pretty hard to take apart again

I assembled the wings into the fuselage and discovered the primer that I'd used had tightened the axis of the wings, so I had to remove the primer on that rod

I thought to would be better to paint the insides of the wings now before assembly......this will break my pattern of owning models with just primer on them:D

I'm so excited to see some paint on this. The only one I've seen so far was from the bandai websites and I wasn't too impressed. But I figured the paint was the biggest issue

Rockvoice has done a cracker paint job (as always) as red 5

I usually chicken out when it comes to paintng,......always too scared of ruining things

....OK time for a bit of spraying......shudder

Gave the entire ship a coat of primer,....then pre-shaded it,.....then white with a hint of deck tan

Then masking for the window frame

......sorry.......massive jump ahead......everything was pretty good,.....I was happy.....until I gave it a blast of what was supposed to be matt lacquer,.....which wasn't...hence the glossy shine to the model.

Still more to do,....pilot & fix bits up,......& get a matt finish back

Thanks very much for looking & have a great Christmas

Brilliant job on that x-wing. Looks like I'll have to pick one up for my stash.
Oh dear, the list of builds to do just got longer.....:wacko

Lovely paint work as always but if I may say so, the blue/grey areas look too violet....what paint did you use? I've had good success with Tamiya Light Blue, sometimes mixed with a little light ultramarine acrylic

Thanks guys,

HH,....I was kinda using the Bandai decals as colour reference,....but lightened a bit,.....the red is also a tad too dark,.....theres touch ups to be done

I think my mind has changed on this kit, I like it a lot. Question, does it detach from the stand or is it permanently fixed to it?

Yes the ship just pushes down on the stand, and the connection that connects to the ship can be adjusted for different angles

I said this at the beginning of the build, it really is a FUN build,....I've built some of the FM X-Wing,.....its very nice, but it just doesn't fill me with the awe and wonder that the Bandai kit does......I'd love to build another & paint it as another Red Squadron ship......Its the painting that I dislike,.....but hopefully after a few of these I will get better

John that Red Leader is a home run! Love those X-wings! I really want to get the 1/48th scale version of this kit.

I just started on mine today. The biggest problem is slowing down. It's such a cool assembly that when I realize I need to paint something, I have to stop. But I wanna keep putting it together!

Did you use much of the decals or is that mostly paint?

I plan on getting a few Bandai kits this year....such details, quality and price. I really hope they do a falcon!
If they ever do a falcon it will mean that my fine molds 1/72 will never, ever see the light of day.

Nor will my amt and blue moon kit

I really enjoyed putting mine together. Not that I'm finished but I now want to do the entire red squadron

Thanks StevenBills,....it still has no pilot:$

....astroboy,....me too,....in a Red Arrows type formation,....cool
