been working on this recently:

http://www.b26354.co.nz/EVA/

Found some spherical acrylic lampshades locally which were 300mm 400mm and 500mm diameter. 400mm seems to scale to about 1/5th scale although, in hindsight, the 300mm would have been a more manageable size (but an odd scale). 500mm would be about 1/4 scale which is just too big :)

Btw, do you work at a modelmaking company ?
Wasili

No, but I've spent the last 20-something years doing computer and CGI work in my day job and the 10 years before that scratchbuilding models - seems like the tech for translating CG models into reality is getting more affordable for the "hobbyist".

Bot of an update:

Arm joints machined from 3mm thick acrylic

Which, when combined with the machined aluminium arms, will look something like this

Joints will need to be quite stiff to support the weight but I want to try to keep them poseable.

:eek I have no word to describe.
Is this a scene at workshop of NASA or something ?

Can't wait so see the upcoming pics:love
