These appear to be one and the same. Looking at the two sets of photos, it's clear that many parts are the same on both listings (notably the unique, frayed bow string).
There are a few people who are used regularly by both auction houses to "restore" items to their scree-used look and feel...
So, this is the one that sold last year for $60,000, and with buyers premium, just sold for more than $115,000.
Hasn’t there been a lot of speculation that this was a forgery?
I agree - there's work that could be done to repair the breaks and damage documented in the auction photos, and ensure that the pieces fit together for display. In some of the photos prior to the auction, it looked like the prop had been displayed in pieces.
Is there a thread archive somewhere on this analysis? I've read the Alleged Screen Used Hero TOS Phaser up for auction (now the aftermath) thread and others here (and elsewhere) but haven't found a detailed assessment. Not poking the bear, genuinely interested to know more and how to spot these...
"the 2021 forgery..." meaning this one that sold for $250K... nearly four times as much!
That is quite a premium.
I do like the Jein Phaser, with its rough and tumble, set redressing paint, and wonder if it will be restored and repaired somewhat along the lines of the TMOST. Personally...
Well, well... the Phaser went for $700,000 ($910,000 after the 27% buyer's premium) and the Communicator for $600,000 ($780,000) and that's before tax! Spirited bidding with a new online bidder stepping in at the last minute to secure the lots.
While there may be some caveats (particularly for...
There's also a number of such as this "original NN-14 blaster prop as used by Daisy Ridley as "Rey" in Star Wars"
Another similar model sold last year at Julien's in their winter auction for $28K. That one was resin while this one is "Production used blaster constructed of cast rubber, expertly...
Looks like the new Studio Auctions "Bombshells to Blasters" auction catalogue is up - with lots of props, including what appears to be the stunt versions of many Star Wars props from The Force Awakens. One is this Luke Skywalker lightsaber, as "seen on promotional materials."
Is it just me or...
WRT Day 1, absolutely, it’s a recurring theme in the multiple day auctions at PropStore and PIH/now Heritage (which I’ve seen Heritage do in its coin and comic other collectibles).
As for the items in the Greg Jein auctions, the premiums paid for lots there are also a reflection an incredible...
Propstore led their four day auctions with all the high priced items. Incredible prices for other items such as the Indiana Jones hat and Batwing. I was surprised that the E-11 ROTJ blaster didn’t go much higher than the low estimate.
Similarly I was surprised the Tricorder didn’t go higher...
