3D Printing for Cosplay / Props

Optimistic Geom that folding prop you made is fantastic great job. I'm only really starting the modelling side of things myself, I have started with 123D which is great for simple geometry. Need to upgrade my home PC to make the switch to fusion 360. Some things I'm working currently working...

SOLVED - (Thanks) - Joining dowels

Re: Help - Joining dowels Thanks for the advice so far, My biggest worry was drilling the holes perfectly straight however I think I have that sorted now as my brother has access to the tools to do just this luckily, so I will get the dowels drilled out this weekend. I did consider the pool...

SOLVED - (Thanks) - Joining dowels

Re: Help - Joining dowels Thanks I don't think these would be great in the long run for durability. Thanks for the advice, Yeah I think going m6 would be better, I think the wood split because the m8 tee nut was 1/2mm smaller than the dowel so it was rather close to the edges. Tee nuts...

Tutorial: 3D Printing Pepakura Files with Blender

I HATE Blender! But this is a very useful tutorial and I may give it a try, good job. I've a project I've being meaning to go back to because I need to clean up a model, It's not a pepakura file, it's just a low polygon model. I've tried the whole subdivide thing but always found the model...

Collapsible PVC Staff - Ideas needed.

Yeah that was the plan then I switched to using a wooden dowel instead. However I changed my model to accept a threaded rod regardless so I will have that for any future builds. So basically a nut is embedded in the top and bottom of the model to secure the thread rod and then on the other side...

3D Printing for Cosplay / Props

The reason I bought my printer for printing props and what's not. At the minute running a Wanhao i3, which I've modded quite a lot as you do. I've no pictures of any I've printed handy at the minute, however I have printed such things as: The Last Word (Destiny), Reapers Gun (Overwatch), Mercy's...

SOLVED - (Thanks) - Joining dowels

Hello, Just wondering if I could get the some advice or even a decent link to a tutorial on the best way to make a joint between two dowels that can be separated when needed, similar to a snooker cue. I'm yet to find any good resources online. From what I have found though, I could use two tee...

Collapsible PVC Staff - Ideas needed.

Some interesting ideas there. I like the idea of the cut out grooves. I'm also thinking of revisiting my model, Removing the threaded screw and opening that bit up to fit a thread rod that will be locked into place by two nuts on the top and bottom of that piece. Then doing something similar on...

Collapsible PVC Staff - Ideas needed.

Hello, I am in the process of making a staff. I need it to be able to come apart, preferably three parts. The staff pole will be made of PVC pipe, with attached 3D printed parts. Has anyone done something similar and care to share some wisdom? I know of a few techniques: Use a small PVC...

Help with Lock and Release Mechanism

Great advice, The tab could potentially work a lot better I had considered it but just decided not to go ahead with it, I will give that a go. I'm also getting the curved rail remade so I will definitely get the bottom edge chamfered. Good call on the dry lubricant too, I sort of overlooked...

Help with Lock and Release Mechanism

It seems I placed my magnets in the wrong place, rookie mistake. To get the full force of the magnet it needs placed under the barrel latch thingy.. so at least there's one new idea.

Help with Lock and Release Mechanism

Good Day Master Builders :D I'm after some ideas as I can't come up with any myself. I'm making this sawn off shotgun, with the ability to open and close the barrel. A mechanism was modelled into the print however so far it fails at doing it's job. The current version has a small lever (it's...
