Edit: nevermind... I missed the answer to my question in an earlier post! XD

    My Tron Legacy Costume Attempt

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. :confused The most accurate method I can think of is just doing a full-on plaster cloth lifecast of my body and then using it as mold for something, but that's pretty messy and time consuming. I like your idea of the wire mesh... perhaps using plaster...

    Tron Legacy Costume

Well folks, looks like we'll all get the chance to wear our costumes to a Tron premier (a second time for some of you, hehe)! Details for ‘Tron 3′ Teasers Emerge Online :love

    Tron Legacy Costume

For a while I was looking into a process for screenprinting my own EL fabric, similar to Elastolite, but a lot of the prices and availability for the components just proved too much to make it feasible. :cry

    Vacuum Forming, Rinzler Cosplay.

Just in cast anyone would like to look them over, I've put the SketchUp schematics for my vacuum box up for download. :)

    Tron Legacy Costume

On both the helmet and the boots I'm thinking of having separate, smaller power supplies that can run the lights independently of the rest of the costume. I haven't done much testing of lighting methods yet, but I am considering a method of diffusing LEDs in a way that reduces bright spots. I...

    Tron Legacy Costume

I ended up going with the Gabrielle Rocha "Zalyia" black wedges, since I'm planning to make exterior panels for the boots similar to the ones in the promo photos of Quorra (which appear to have a stretchier layer beneath the joints between the panels, so the boots can stretch and move). I'm...

    Vacuum Forming, Rinzler Cosplay.

That's more or less how mine looks. I left some margin around the grid of holes, though, so that I could border it with rubbery weatherstripping tape (so that the frame holding the plastic makes a nice seal against the platen). The only other difference is that I feed my vacuum tube in from the...

    Don Robert's Tron Legacy

Congrats on first place! :lol Hopefully soon my Quorra helmet will start coming together. Great job on duplicating the form/shape of it... it's quite an organic piece! :thumbsup

    Quorra Research and Resource Thread

Great sketch, though some of the photos I've seen seem to indicate that the hex pattern on her upper chest area is actually molded into the foam rubber of her armor, like a sort of bas relief. :confused

    tron legacy helmets

Got underway tonight on my Quorra helmet! Here's an in-progress shot of the sculpting progress. :) The little straw slivers are marked to indicate the amount of offset I've allowed from my head (the first layer of clay there is to get the mannequin head to match my head size). There's...

    tron legacy helmets

Yep, the plan is to do a full Quorra costume by Halloween '11 (I'm giving myself plenty of time since I have a few skills I still need to learn). Quorra's body armor isn't quite as extensive as, say, Sam's or Rinzler's... I'm considering a modified/simplified version of the method that the...

    tron legacy helmets

That's more or less what I'm going to do for Quorra's helmet. I'm going to vacuum form the two sides of the helmet and then use a dark-tinted transparent plastic for the "visor" panel that runs down the front of it, then get some padding for the interior (probably the same sort of thing used in...

    Tron Legacy Costume

It looks like the hexagon pattern is molded into the foam rubber across Quorra's chest. That's what I've suspected, at least.

Balloon rubber is basically just latex.. which can be found in a sprayable form. You may need some sort of industrial spray gun to apply it, though. I found this while searching around a bit... might be possible to tint it with some sort of pigment to get a nice iridescent white color. I wonder...
