just a note. I have started the prototype of that unit I mention above. pics and build log is over in the off topic forum though since it is not a prop. when it makes it to the stage of sales/trading. then I will start a thread in the junk yard. *JY has been moved to the prop section of forums...
this is what is on one of 3 work benches
in the other room through that door is the set of carts with lathe and grinders for grinding and polishing. then in the other room I have a mankind mask I have not gotten around to photoing yet. (I will get to that soon though and post a couple pics)
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
well it is an approximately 80mm fish-eye lens and as I mentioned else where, you can find them in rear projection big screen TVs of the DLP variety. that is where I got all the ones on my site. (just look in the products page for optics at the bottom...
Re: any one have a good image for the lost room polaroids?
so no one has a decent pic of the "Occupant" from the show? hmmm. I have a smallish version of his face but I was hoping to get a higher resolution one before I started trying to clean it up and make it larger to get the resolution I...
the one I am looking for in particular is the shot where the guys face is showing through the all black polaroid while joe is looking around the room. I am fairly certain I can make one that when the edge of the picture is squeezed it will turn from black to that image so I need a good one to...
so how hard is it going to be to get good screen caps of this key you speak of? If I can get some I plan on making a G-code file so I can cut one on my mill (or use it to make a stamp to stamp the sides of the unit on a key sized piece I cut out with the mill.)
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
still can not get over the 3D work on the PDFs now. I just got moved so hopefully soon I will be able to set up the tools and begin work on things.
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
yeah the way I am working on solving this is finding a similar lens to be taken from something found that normally would be thrown away. you can see some of the lenses I had here: Borg steam factory so far I have found one good one that only has two...
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
cool I'm adding an attachment of my clean up of a clip.
also I am looking around but finding it difficult to find a screen capture of what things looked like from HAL's point of view, and for some reason I missed it when last I watched it.
one...
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
also my condolences on the death of your build. hopefully if you still have an interest in the prop this thread can revive it?
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
yeah I just watched 2001 again and the end is nothing more than a serious acid trip. instead of coming outright and saying what is going on stanley just hints around at it. Though to be fair it was made back when people actually read books ... made...
Re: HAL 9000 Panel (2001:A Space Odyssey)
ah ok that makes sense, I just watched 2010 and it was in the beginning. as if it had been in the 2001 movie.
