Hello RPFers,
I wanted to share the crown jewel of my BSG costumes: Chief Tyrol's Orange flight deck crewman costume. The jumpsuit is made from a modified set of RedKap coveralls, striped with accurate reflective tape with a triangular pattern. The tool vest is made of corrugated rubber with pockets made from Ikea rubber drawer liners Plasti-dipped black. The edging of the vest is made from white PVC vinyl wrapped around nylon cording. My pocket-liner rubber was salvaged from a health scale and the grommets are made for curtain rods.
My favorite part of this costume are all the accessories that come with the flight deck. I built a repair module by modifying a vintage, screen accurate HILTI tool case. I removed the lettering and covered that area with a strip of sintra plastic. The paint color was sourced using original paint chips from the show and the lettering is cut from vinyl.
My remove before flight tags were made using Propworx auction photos and reproduced with accurate pins, grommets and metal cording. The lettering was cut from fabric-transfer vinyl and ironed onto the fabric.
The tool pouch is a "close enough" black nylon pouch with a hook and eye belt closure. It's stuffed with clamps, tools, shop towels, and my flask depending on how late it is at DragonCon.
The clipboard is made of a simple metal clipboard that I cut the corners off of and added a BSG decal to. It holds some great paper props that a fan made on this forum that I added some wear and coffee stains to.
Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!
