Bandai 1/72 t-65 & t-70 fuselage.

Hi all

I was wondering if someone could please tell me the fuselage lengths of the 1/72 scale t-65 and t-70 X wings from bandai?
It would be a big help with something I'm working on. I think the t-70 fuselage is roughly 155mm but I'm not entirely sure.

Cheers

I got this.

The top angle looks weird (ie: the back of the model looks like it's not lined up at 0, but it is) because of my phone's wide angle lens.

Looks like they both land at 159mm.

cheers Steven! Exactly what I was after! Nice models too mate!

Now one last thing could you please tell me what they measure length wise including the engines standing upright? Reason why I'm wanting to know this is I'm trying to work out the discrepancies to the revell 1/50 kit as I'm currently building a 1/24 scale version of the T-70. I'm borrowing a bit of both the revell and bandai.

Thanks again SB!

Here's a few side by sides for you.

Cheers! I actually came across your pictures doing a google search and I have been using it as a reference.

So according to online sources the T-70 has a real life length of 12.48 metres. The length of the revell 1:50 kit is 250mm long which converts it to 12.5 metres in real life, so a ball hair oversize but not much. The bandai 1:72 kit measures 170mm long but converting that to 1:1 is 12.24 metres, so undersized from the source length. So the revell length must be more precise. Not detail-wise that's for sure!

Just trying to find a happy medium to go by. I've been building my 1/24 version to the revell size.

If we assume that the Bandai dimesions are correct, then the Revell kit, at 250mm in length gives a scale of 1:48.96 (aka 1/49) So 1/50 scale might be considered a simplification by Revell. However, being 1/49th scale makes it more compatible with the Bandai 1/48 scale T-65 kit, from a "constant scale collection" standpoint. I am glad to accept this minor discrepancy for the sake of not having to hack apart a Revell T-70 in order to 'upscale' it slightly as my OCD was telling me to do! ;^P

I'd say, just perhaps double the dimensions and call it a day!

Regards, Robert

I was waiting for one to pop up but I thought 'hmm, I'll give it a crack myself'. So far all I've done is the armature (basic cross axis armature), wing boxes, engine, and wings. They need to be detailed just now but I'm getting the basic structure done first. All the greeblies will come later.
