Are you ready for more?

A long shipping time, from a nation far, far away...

Background
Simply, this is a T-70 X-Wing wearing New Republic logos, to represent a relatively new fighter sometime in the period between ROTJ and TFA. The wing flagging is slightly different from the Resistance X-Wings in TFA to similarly reflect a different affiliation. I originally planned for the fighter to be Dragonslayer Two, wingman to my T-65B Dragonslayer One (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=266858) during the New Republic era.

The Build
I really love the white/blue scheme of the X-Wings in TFA, so I painted this one similarly. Again, as with my T-65, I primed the fighter using Rustoluem Plastic Primer in white, with a very very light gray wash. All other details were hand-painted with Apple Barrel acrylic and equivalent hobby paint, as well as some Citadel hobby paints. Some kit waterslide decals were used, as well as some custom waterslides that I printed myself.

This was built straight out of the box, with the exception of gluing in those ludicrous little blaster cannon tips.

Kit waterslides were used on the fine fuselage striping, pilot and BB-8.
BB-8 is a PLACEHOLDER and will eventually be replaced by the R0 astromech that comes with the Poe variant kit coming this fall.
The pilot is NOT meant to be Poe Dameron, but I love the helmet markings so much.
Custom Aurebesh decal reads "Lt. D. KANOFSK"

Custom New Republic logo decal.

I
really regret using the kit waterslide for the brown panel by the proton torpedo launcher. Even with a ton of Microsol on top it's just too thick and stands out. It'll get scraped off one day.

Low pass!

I'm not considering this kit fully completed yet - as stated, that stupid brown decal really has to go, and I do plan to replace BB-8 with the R0 buck from the upcoming Poe's X-Wing kit. I'm also not super happy with the wing flagging and I may redo it at some point down the line, but it's done enough for the display case!

Thanks for reading!

Where did you get those little figures from? The ones at the base of the X-Wing base???

They're old Micro Machines figures. Not Action Fleet, but the fixed-pose ones that came in multipacks or with diorama pieces. They are pretty close to 1/72 scale. Not terribly detailed, but good enough to be in the background.

Those X-wings look great. I like the water base as well, I did the same thing with mine instead of using it as the desert

Looking forward to seeing Poe's version

For those wondering, as far as the difference in size with Micromachines, there are a few different lines. The ones with jointed hips for the action fleet line are larger, the figures here are close to 1/72, but I think are more like 1/76 or so. The new TFA branded micromachine machine figures are even smaller. and closer to 1/87

Here is the size difference between a Fine Molds 1/72 stormtrooper and a 1/76 ish micromachines Lando. Close enough for stunt work
