Resin prop kits - priming before putty?

Should I prime resin parts first before filling seams/pinholes with spot putty?

I've read conflicting advice from various build threads on this forum - some folks swear by priming the parts first, others skip the pre-priming.

Which is the better approach?

As long as there is something for the primer to key to it makes no real difference.
I tend to fill first then prime, mainly so that everything has an equal coat of primer to ensure a good paint finish.
Some people fill, prime and then fill up anything the prime coat picks out then prime again before painting.

Good luck with your build.

It also depends what filler you are using. Some fillers have a solvent that dissolves some of the resin or plastic in order to adhere to it. The paint may affect that process, or if it isn't solvent based, the filler may have an issue sticking to the primer. Best to follow what Yaris suggests for the major filling. If you miss a few pinholes you can always follow up with a good filler.
