It Thought I'd better start a thread here for my non-Star Wars stuff as it didn't belong in that forum.
First a few recent Back to the Future acquisitions.

Sarednab's milk glass and a Mexican Pepsi bottle with Roland's sticker (any way of getting rid of the wrinkles? They keep coming back).

Red Cadillac and Casio CA-50.

And from Alien I'm working on Morganthirteen's Nostromo blaster kit with real Singlepoint and ASI 4x20 plus machined nozzle from Odiwan72/Sidewinder. This is the latest version of this excellent kit featuring separate grips cast from real ones and a separate receiver cover. I made some minor modifications to the shape of the cover and have the base coat down. Will start the weathering/layering tomorrow.

Looking good!! And yup, my sticker does have wrinkles too, no idea how to get rid of it, you might have to slice it up, but that's tricky :x

My non-Star Wars props & projects: 30 May - Jason Bourne passport collection complete

(Are some of these pictures showing larger than others? Photobucket seems to be having a problem handling 16:9 photos and it's p-ing me off.)

After six years my Bourne Identity passport collection is complete - all real passports modified by me.

Weathering with liquid masking fluid. Painstaking.

Light coats of dark and medium bronze. I'm waiting for a light bronze to arrive.

My non-Star Wars props and projects: 31 May - Evil Dead dagger and Nostromo pistol

Dug my Evil Dead Kandarian Dagger stuff out of storage. It's about time I made this thing.

I was originally going to dremel out the resin bones and replace them with real parts but I think instead I'm just going to use the kit as reference and sculpt my own using screen accurate Celluclay. I've got two small chickens on my shopping list for this weekend to get the bones needed!

I'm also going to make a new thicker blade.

Fixed photobucket!

Re: My non-Star Wars props & projects: 31 May - Nostromo blaster and Kandarian Dagger

Hey kurty, I had the same problem with wrinkels when putting vinyl stickers on my X-wing helmet.

What I did, is heat them with a hear dryer and gently remove the wrinkels.
Since Roman's BTTF sticker is also a vinyl, this should work. Be carefull with the plastic bottle though.

Re: My non-Star Wars props & projects: 31 May - Nostromo blaster and Kandarian Dagger

@ the Bourne passports: Could u do the Craig 007 Passport, too?
@ Kandarian Dagger: who made this kit, looks like a fun project to do. :) Especially with that little skeleton parts.
@ Nostromo Blaster: I love this prop and loved to work on mine as well.

Re: My non-Star Wars props & projects: 31 May - Nostromo blaster and Kandarian Dagger

in the future, if the stickers are vinyl, spray the surface with windyx (glass cleaner) and apply when surface is wet, you may have to cut the sticker now to get it to lay flat

My non-Star Wars props & projects: 11 June - Bond, Evil Dead, Alien.

This is an old passport turned into the Casino Royale version. It was really just a test and I need to add the signature.

The dagger kit is the old Lemarchand one from 2008 I believe. I'm going to make a completely new one using screen accurate materials (lots of good info at bookofthedead.ws).

I bought another Visible Man kit and started collecting chicken bones which have been cleaned, scrubbed and dried in the sun for several days (lost some to neighborhood cats that insisted on chewing on bare bones!

Using masking fluid for most of the weathering on the Nostromo blaster.

Not finished. Will need dirtying up and I'm not too happy with just the dark gunmetal showing through, I might need to add silver highlights as well.

Really nice ideas and work here. Will follow this topic :thumbsup
Love those three flicks and its props.

My non-Star Wars props & projects: 25 June - Nostromo laser complete

I had some dry transfers made for my Nostromo laser so I was finally able to finish it. I copied the weathered decals in painstaking detail which gave much more accurate results than using the complete text then scraping some of it away. Also, after looking at some of the other reference photos I found online I had to remove some of the paint from the ASI eyepiece and front bell - there is a distinctive black band around the ends.

Thanks to Moffeaton for his great reference photos, and to Odiwan72 for help with the painting.

My non-Star Wars props & projects: 29 August - Evil Dead I & II Kandarian Daggers WIP

Done more work on the two Kandarian Daggers. I had an Evil Dead I blade laser cut from aluminium and made a wooden handle for it. This is the blade before any reshaping.
kandagger6.jpg

It's 5mm thick as recommended by Rob at bookofthedead.ws although it seems a little thick to me and I can't figure out if that's just because it also needs thinning from back to front. A uniform thickness of 3mm might have been closer.
kandagger5.jpg

kandagger7.jpg

I've reshaped the 'sharp' edge of the blade and started building up the handle using Celluclay and installed the skull.
kandagger8.jpg

kandagger9.jpg

kandagger10.jpg

Evil Dead II version with some Celluclay added to blend the skull in and some real bones added.

These are all the Visible Man parts as used on the Evil Dead I version ready and weathered, along with the two long real bones.

Re: My non-Star Wars props & projects: 29 August - Evil Dead I & II Kandarian Daggers

Lovely stuff. The Kandarian Dagger has definitely just made my list of cool stuff I need to own. It'd look great next to a replica of the eXistenZ Gristle Gun!

I have to say I'm impressed with the level of replication you're going to with the weathering on the Nostromo Pistol. Very impressive.
