So i just recently purchased this and idk how to get the writing off without severly marking up the flash gun. Anyone have any advice???

I would try any of the following:
Googone
Lighter fluid
acetone
Goof off
polishing compound
One of those HAVE to work if it's just printed on. if it's imprinted (pressed) you can still remove the ink but the indentations will remain.
BTW, I believe that is a flash gun as opposed to a flash light.
