ROTJ detonator charges

Did anyone ever figure out what the base of this prop is?
Wild guess I would imagine something like a truck piston. Obviously, not this one (shown).

As far as I know it has never been IDed.
Notice that the item was originally orange at that the base is removable.

It's usually referred to as the Bunker Bomb.

It's been theorized that it's some form of smoke detector but I don't think it was ever found.

The piece on the side resembles parts that are found inside of Vader's reveal mask.

No, the side grebblies are from a gamma tube. there are 7 or 9 plates in that tube.

It always looked like a vintage overhead fire extinguisher / sprinkler housing to me

The tricky part is to bend it. The platse is layered, so you have to separate it .

How did you make the rest? Did you get a TK kit and just add the grate?

I am curious what found items the silver parts are made from?

I got a couple of them for mine but I never had the guts to do it be the replica ones on the side were done so well.

ha! i was watching RoTJ the other night on bluray for the first time, not only did i realize it was harrison ford in the at-st alerting the empire they defeated the rebels and needed back up, but i also wondered what the heck the charges were made out of...
