Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

This build is awesome! Do you have an idea of when you may be doing kits?

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

I already have the molds and i'm currently casting 3 sets for my garrison. I'll be starting a second run by mid-sept. I'll be introducing the armor during Force Friday then i'll be posting up details of the run in the Project Runs section soon.

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

One more test run before packing it in for Force Friday. Movement is just excellent. If i trimmed the top of the abs a bit more as well as the back of the thighs and calves i could probably sit down in this armor no problem. I think i can probably bend down to pick something off the floor but my strapping might give way. This flexible stuff is just too awesome and seems very durable. I don't foresee any cracking issues during movement or storage. :) It may even survive airline travel in a softshell luggage. But i'd rather not take any chances. :)

That is excellent! I'm amazed at what you started with, and where it ended up!

Thanks!!! I always like to start with what i have on hand...which is nothing. :)

I couldn't have finished it this way without the help of some friends and a bit of chance. This was initially supposed to be cast in rigid fiberglass then vacuformed in the future. At some point during the finishing phase, my friends were swamped with other projects and referred me to another fiberglass guy...i said i preferred flexible, and he delivered flexible. Now i don't need to vacuform anymore. :)

That looks absolutely amazing. Just stunning. Great tips on the final touches; I'd been looking into lenses and these look like they worked our perfect. Might use the exact same trick on my own helmet!

Side note: Did you notice the blasters in the TRU promo cut outs are inverted?

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

NachyoChez - Thanks! :) You can also try trimming a bit more from the inside of the brow. That way, when you attach the motorcycle visor, it will slant inwards / downwards and will simulate bubble lenses in some angles. Yeah, the standees do seem flipped.

I'll probably hit you up for more feedback when I get a little closer to ready. Currently still in the paper-building stages due to kiddo and very little room to work in. Also my pep file has a LOT of detail, so process is slow going!

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

This is absolutely fantastic work. Seeing yours against the cut outs just shows how accurate your work really is.

What did you use for the hexagon mesh? I'm modding a helmet soon and it looks like a perfect solution!

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

Thanks! I used hexagonal green plastic gardening mesh. I just found it by chance at the local big chain hardware.

In the meantime, had a friend of mine commission a blaster build for me. All completely scratchbuilt in PVC and sintra by hand.

Thanks! I just buy them (replacement face shields) from motorcycle accessory shops. They're go for very cheap over here.

Re: TFA Stormtrooper Bucket & Armor...Old School Sculpting: FINISHED P.3

Please pass my compliments on to your blaster-building friend.

That looks AMAZING!
